Water resistance is less than desirable

I bought this flash drive (512GB) a little over 3 months ago.
the functionality is grate, and I love how user friendly and universal it is!
especially since I work on a Chromebook and most other encrypted flash drives don't work
but the water resistance it said it was resistant up to 4 ft but I forgot the drive in my pocket when it was raining out. And the drive was completely destroyed and it was not even submerged!

The IronKey Keypad 200 is very well built and sturdy. Not that I will do it, but my guess is I can drive a car over it and it would survive. Also seems at least splash proof with Key place in the holder as a fine silicone or rubber seal between the case and the key seems made to exclude water. The bad part and reason to take away one star is the complexity of the instructions. There is no way an individual with a normal memory will remember all the ways to program this, but I do feel pretty safe that with 8-15 numbers/letters as a passcode that it would very strongly deter any efforts to steal your data.

Well made. Keys depress with precision. I found a video of the setup process. The video was much simpler than the following the setup instructions. Price seemed high until I got the item. I feel much safer with my stored data as I travel.

The IKKP200 is designed to be OS independent, once unlocked it should operate as a normal USB drive. In some instances with medical equipment the USB drive must be formatted as FAT32 which could be the problem.

I like it, but can it survive years and years?

So far so good! I ordered a week ago, the encryption and decryption works flawlessly so far. No issue has arisen, and it is compatible with all the platforms that I needed it to be compatible with MacOS, Wiindows, Linux, and IpadOS.
