I have had this product for about a year to clean up our furry friends accidents, it work wonderfully but has started to smell, when i turn it on to use it, and even after cleaning i as they suggest with a bowl of tap water the smell does not go way. I am also disapointed that the plastic is heat molded together so you can't even open the dirty discharge tank to clean it, I may have to throw this product away and go in search of a similar product made by a different company

Thank you for your review. If the home remedy of cleaning didn't help; you may want to take your machine to a BISSELL center for a maintenance cleaning. For locations check out this link. http://www.bissell.com/service-centers/?zip=Enter%20your%20zip%20code&distance=50
I have only use my machine once, and the suction was very weak. I am disappointed.

This machine cleans great. For dogs and 2 yr old granddaughters-- great! BUT IT STINKS!! I have soaked and washed it out and cleaned it AND IT STILL STINKS!!! You cannot clean it. It is still cleaning and does that great, but we are throwing it out because it SMELLS UP THE WHOLE HOUSE when it runs. Going to look for something else.

Thanks for your review. The best way to clean is to take a bowl of tap water, and suction the water back in the collection tank. You may have to do this a few times until clean water comes back.
Just got mine in the mail today and this little machine is just amazing. It gets stains out with little effort and my only complaint would be the sore knees I will now have ! But it is worth it.
I have had my little green machine for 4 years. I love it! Today was the first time that I actually had any trouble with it. While cleaning, it quit spraying. I came to this site and was able to fix the problem, relatively easily. I did have a little trouble with odor when I first got it. I realized that it was the dirty tank. Even after emptying it and rinsing it, it still smelled. I was able to eliminate the odor by letting it soak in the sink, with some hot water and vinegar. I do this now after every clean, and I have also learned not to close the cover on top to store. (the one on the machine that you have to close in order to get the suction to fill the dirty tank.) When this one fails, I will definitely buy another.
I bought the little green machine about a year ago and I really like how it works. It has only been used maybe 10 times but for some reason the spray nozzle just stopped working.I don't know if this is a problem with the machine but maybe you could give me some ideas on how to fix this problem.thanks

This machine works pretty well when it is new...well the old version anyway, but then, look out. When is Bissell going to fix these ongoing design problems? You are not listening to your customers. Your "happy" customers have to place the machine on a towel! Who needs a 3-6 foot wide spray when the suction head is 3"? Everyone wants to be able to clean the "cleaning" machine. You keep blaming the customers. I used to think I just got a bad machine. I blamed myself although I had followed all of the instructions. Now, I visited here because I don't want a room sized machine (I'll cal the pros for that). I was seriously going to buy a Little Green today. Had one years ago, and had TOTALLY forgotten that I tossed it because it began to smell, just sitting in the closet AFTER it had dried out, even when I wasn't using it! I didn't need it for pet stains, just spills and regular use "graying" of upholstery, and with each use there were more leaks and more smells, and the machine NEVER looked clean, no matter what I did. Didn't come apart for thorough cleaning and drying. No pet hair, but carpet fuzz and grunge that stuck in every crack, crevice, and corner. Had forgotten that there are places in the machine you just CANNOT reach to clean. Had the feeling from the smell that it was moldy inside. And it always leaked, but used it a lot in vehicles, so less of an issue outside. Still....have decided not to get one. I'll stick to a can of spray cleaner. Bissell ....GET A CLUE, and improve ongoing issues. All these years later (probably 8-10years), still the SAME issues. I am one consumer who is tired of being blamed for a poor design. "buy this...try that.... get a new...trouble shoot for yourself...YOU put the O-ring in wrong..." Time for a redesign. Would be a great marketing approach. I don't expect this post to stay posted for very long.

Thank you for your review. We are sorry for your disappointment. The deep reach tool is designed to be used deep down in the carpet fibers; not on the surface. This way the spray is more controlled. It is best to take a bowl of tap water and suction the water back into the collection tank. This will help to clean your hose and tools. We hope this helps you out.
This has been a lifesaver with having a toddler (from spills to diaper accidents). I do have to rinse the dirty tank out a lot to keep it from building up residue and stinking. My hose already has a crack after occasional use for about 6 months, but the warranty process has been easy. I already have it at a repair shop! Even though I try to clean up the area, it's difficult to vacuum the area before when something was spilled (as recommended). I suction the water after cleaning the spot, to flush it out, but some dirt and fibers get stuck in the sides of the brush's clear plastic part. It is because of the way it's designed (like a small pocket on each side) that it catches loose debris and keeps it there.

Thank you for your review. You can clean the tools and flex hose by taking a bowl of tap water. Suction the water back into the collection tank to push the dirt/hair through. This should do the trick!
