Very simple to use

I picked the Rode Videomic GO over the Videomicro because of the perceived larger pick-up range, and because it requires no batteries. The use is very simple indeed, and the sound is a little better than the camera's built-in mics (less background noise). There are no switches, or volume controls on the Videomic GO, everything needs to be done on the camera.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Doesn't work with Smart Phones

I read great reviews for this microphone, but it ended up not working with my Google Pixel 5. This mic comes with a TRS to TRS cable and most smart phones, tablets and laptops need a TRRS cable. You would have to order a trs to trrs cable or a converter cable. I ended up exchanging it for a different brand that came with a trrs cable.
I gave it two stars, because it really should have came with multiple cables (which would have cost them nothing to include) so that you can use it with both a dslr camera as well as any other more modern recording device.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

The easiest Rode Video Mic

I was a bit skeptical about this model compared to the Rode VideoMicro. I went for it mainly because of its simplicity, and no need to charge or install batteries. Other users have complained about this mic picking up Wi-Fi radio noises (crackles and pops); but I haven't encountered any of such interference (yet). I know there are other (more expensive) models and brands (e.g. Deity); but this Videomic GO is just right for my simple video recording needs. There isn't even an on-off switch/indicator ... everything is controlled and managed at the camera.
