Scotch Tough Grip Tape With Dispenser, Lives Up To

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Scotch Tough Grip Tape With Dispenser, Lives Up To The Hype!
3M gave me a free sample product to evaluate. Out of the box:
The tape is thick, a strong adhesive. Tape unrolls from dispenser,
smooth, quiet and easy to control. The dispenser frame is durable,
not flimsy plastic. The caution tab covering the serrated blade is secure.
Easy to find where tape roll starts. To get a clean cut, twist the dispenser.
First time threading tape over tabs to the opening, tape was sticking.
I wasn't holding the tape tight enough.

The box I used, flattened from storage. I'm shipping out of state.
Taped end of box, unrolled enough tape with one hand. Sealed both
sides the same way and was done fast! I had no problems with tape
or dispenser. Scotch Tough Grip Moving Packaging Tape With Dispenser,
Is a Superior Quality Product! A must-have for your home!

Packaging Tape but Better

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I love the fact that this tape does not make the usual loud noise when you use it. I was able to use it in situations where it needed to be quiet. At first it didn't seem as if it was going to have enough adhesive to hold well, but it is plenty sticky to attach to cardboard/paper surfaces and hold well. I need to remember to fold over the end part so that doesn't go back on itself and make it difficult to continue using the roll as it tends to come back and try to attach itself to the roll. I tried the tape on a couple of things it wasn't meant for and it holds well to close bags of snack foods. I also temporarily repaired a vinyl surface and the tape will be easy to remove, but it's definitely not made for that long-term. I would buy this tape to have on hand for it's intended purposes.

Does the job

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I received a sample of this Scotch Tough Grip Moving tape to try and review. I have used other tape by Scotch so I am familiar with the brand. I hadn't tried this specific tape so I was curious to see how it would compare. I ended up using this tape to reinforce the bottoms of storage boxes in our basement and to seal shipping packages for mail in returns that i didnt want to break open during transit. This tape so far appears to grip well and seems like itll hold and maintain its seal regardless of the box weight. It uses the same dispenser as other Scotch packaging tape which makes it easy to unroll and cut tape evenly. I feel confident that this tape will do the job, not just for shipping boxes but also making sure our heaviest storage boxes don't break apart.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The product was easy to use on sealing boxes or envelopes with no problem at all in tearing it off with its attached blade on the dispenser. The tape holds very well on the box and envelope, no need to make adjustment.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I love the way it fits nicely in my hand while I am taping the things in my window by my a/c unit. It dispensed smoothly and the cutter worked great. The product was very easy to use with minimal pull to dispense.

I think we got a defective roll.

Let me preface this by saying that overall, my tape-related experiences have been good, that's why I'm baffled with the rolls I was trying to use today. In the past, I've used the "Heavy Duty" version, but we thought that Tough Grip would be enough for packing.
I should have been suspicious when the tape roll didn't make that signature unsticking noise when I rolled it. It kept peeling up at the ends so I tried to tape THOSE down with more tape. When I finally lifted the box, the tape slid off in my hands in one big tangle and the box fell to the floor. I didn't want to waste this tape, so I tried to use it to tape some headphone wires together, and not even that worked. It's so ineffective, it doesn't even stick to itself. It was worse than masking tape.

The Heavy Duty works fine. Use that.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I received this item in exchange for an honest review.
I am using this during my move.
Pros:
Not squeaky and loud
Goes on smooth, not clunky
Indeed holds at least 30lbs
I never know how to thread the tape. This actually includes instructions
Cons:
None yet.
