Scotch Tough

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I used the Scotch Tough Grip Moving Packaging Tape with Dispenser to put a label on a jar. I knew it would keep water from ruining the writing. It went on smoothly, and, with the handy, sharp cutter edge I had no problem putting it right where I needed it to be. This tape is tough and reliable. I would recommend it to anyone who needs a strong, versatile tape that you can read through. No messy wrinkles or tearing to deal with. Very pleased with this tape.

strong enough to hold

bought this tape to tape up boxes for moving, it is strong enough to hold the bottom of boxes without letting go and spilling everything.

Did not hold for even overnight

Bought this to pack boxes for storage. Loaded the next day to move and all tape came off. Did not stick for even 12 hours. Worthless.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Can I be impressed by.. a tape dispenser?

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I got this free from 3m in exchange for my unbiased opinion. Removing the yellow tag paper covering the blade was a bit difficult. The is a serrated flap that if not removed a certain way, will leave part of the tag paper still hooked to the dispenser (see video). You'll have to be very careful not to cut yourself when trying to rip it. The scissors might be a safer route. I actually left it as is and in my case, it didn't affect the quality of use.
The box I had to tape up was torn in corners and would definitely rip even more during transit if not secured properly.
The first thing I noticed was how QUIET it was when reeling out! Normally, you would hear that obnoxious tape-screeching noise when going from one end to the other. It is very discreet when any noise is made at all. Thumbs up for that.
Secondly, the thickness of this tape is a plus. It sealed my box corners and tears effortlessly.
A hidden feature that i appreciate is the fact the tape is clear. This makes it harder for unwanted guests to attempt to peel open my package because you can't really tell where to peel if you double/triple seal it.
I noticed the dispenser was a bit flimsy, but later discovered the hinge inside of the roll was loose. After closing it, it was sturdy again and did not loosen when using repeatedly.
The tabs to catch the tape from sticking back on to the roll was very clever and a huge time-saver. We all know how annoying it is to try and find the end!
Overall, great product and I am absolutely impressed. Unpacking for use just needs to be worked on. Perhaps, a sliding blade cover would be a nice touch for the next generation of tape dispensers? Just a safety measure thought. =D

Doesn’t even stay taped

I was moving and the tape would not stick!!! I picked up a box twice and the bottom fell threw. doesn’t even stick

The "Goldilocks" of Moving Tapes!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] 3M recently sent me a roll of their Scotch Moving Tape to use and review. I am VERY pleased with this product! Most other tapes I've used were either too thin and tore and bunched easily, or too thick and difficult to manipulate-- this tape is the "Goldilocks" of moving tapes- JUST RIGHT!!! The dispenser is lightweight and dispenses the tape without binding. The serrated metal cutter strip is rigid and easily cuts the thicker tape. I especially like the two red tabs (see photo #2) that "catch" the loose end of the tape roll and keep it in place to easily grab for the next use! The tape is excellent and the dispenser is well thought out!

Packing is a little less painful…

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I love the thickness and it’s super easy to find the end. There’s nothing worse than trying to pack and end up wasting time trying to find the end of the tape! Packing is bad enough already! This is easy to find, smooth to apply and simple to cut. It has a sturdy grip so one pass is all I need to seal my boxes. (3M gave me a free sample to evaluate)

3M gave me a free sample product to evaluate. Out of the box:
The tape is thick, a strong adhesive. Tape unrolls from dispenser,
smooth, quiet and easy to control. The dispenser frame is durable,
not flimsy plastic. The caution tab covering the serrated blade is secure.
Easy to find where tape roll starts. To get a clean cut, twist the dispenser.
First time threading tape over tabs to the opening, tape was sticking.
I wasn't holding the tape tight enough.
