Frog tape did not work as advertised on a metal surface

In restoring an antique safe, I used frog tape to mask off an area to be painted a different color. The paint bled under the frog tape worse than what I see with Scotch Blue painter's tape. This caused a tremendous amount of repeated work for me and put my project behind schedule.

Used to be good

I have used Frog Tape for years and loved it. However every roll I have purchased in the last year has had/caused more bleeding than any painters tape I have ever used. I have used over 25 rolls in the last 12 months from several different retailers with the same results; More time re-touching taped areas and and much much greater expense. After the last roll provided me with really horrible results I purchased some non name brand painters tape from the clearance section of my local Dollar Tree. Low and behold there was no bleeding of paint and it came off without pulling up paint unlike the Frog Tape. I will never waste my money on this product again.

Expensive and Falls off Walls!

I carefully followed the application directions on my newly painted trim work. I tested it as recommended and it seemed to work fine. I carefully taped off an entire room and hallway with two rolls of tape, only to come down the next morning to find it falling off the walls. It looked like party streamers it was so bad.
Furthermore in places where the tape did stick, some paint seeped beneath the edge in places.
I do not recommend this tape.

This tape is absolute garbage as far as sticking to walls for any extended period of time. I followed the directions as stated and half of the tape would fall off before I even had a chance to wet a paintbrush.
Went back to the blue tape because while it comes off in pieces and may have a couple spots where tape bleeds through, at least I don't have to glue it to the baseboard to keep it in one place.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

This product does not live up to the hype!

I used this tape to protect all the wood trim in my bathroom. There was paint bleed on every surface. It doesn't work any better than the blue paint tape. I followed the instructions and checked every surface before painting, but, it didn't work. Totally dissatisfied!

I would not recommend Frog Tape to anyone. I taped off a whole room, crown molding, base moulding and three cutouts in the room. all the tape was pressed onto the wall & moulding securely so I thought everything would have a straight clean line. Not so! Every inch of my taped off line bleed through. There was not one clean line on any surface! I had to go over every line w/ a straight edge. Double the work! I would not recommend this product to anyon!

Textured Surfaces

FrogTape offers no different results than regular blue painting tape on textured surfaces when you use the same technique for applying FrogTape on textured surfaces as shown at www.frogtape.com. With regular blue painting tape, you will get the exact same results. FrogTape is only better than regular blue painting tape on non-textured surfaces. As another tip for texture surfaces, instead of pretreating the tape with Wall A's paint, apply a very thin layer of painter's caulk and follow the remaining steps. It works perfectly well without the need of trying to find Wall A's paint in the garage some where.

I bought this tape because its supped to be awesome and work great! Well after hours of taping my daughters room and painting for 3 days there was not one clean line. The tape did not stick like it says it does. I am so upset over this. I even went and bought another roll thinking maybe the first roll i got was bad. Nope same problem!
