[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I don’t work on ducts, but I do bundle cords and tape stuff around the house. This tape is good for this sort of general use. It’s much thinner than traditional duct tape, which has a fabric feel and needs to be cut with scissors. This is more like opaque packing tape with the huge advantage of being tearable, so you don’t need a scissors like you do duct tape—you can throw this in a tool box or car without worrying you won’t be able to use it when the time comes. Overall I recommend it for the convenience, I don’t recommend it if you’re expecting a classic, thick duct tape. I was given this product in exchange for an honest review.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I was sent a roll of this duct tape to test and provide a review. I am finding the tape to be quite adequate for mending small tears in a tarp; holding replacement molding around a window while it is being permanently attached; and providing cushioning on some of my worn out garden tool handles. Much better than the non-name-branded duct tape that I have used in the past. Thanks 3M for holding to your brand’s quality standards.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I received this product free from 3M to evaluate. The tape is easy to tear, but it did not tear cleanly horizontally and at times it tore vertically when that was not the intention. Once the tape folded over on itself, I could not separate it and had to use another piece.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Great multi use product. Everyone needs to have a roll Of duct tape on hand for their home. I used this for a few minor repairs and quick fixes around the house. In particular I was able to tape a hole on my screen door until I can get it repaired.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This tape was not something I would have put in my cart after reading the description. It sounded comparable to a masking tape with its easy tear. But I was pleasantly surprised to find it so strong and pliable. It tore easily in both directions and had great holding power. It was also easy to apply and then remove. It easily molded like a wraparound my items. I commend 3M on their adhesion!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] 3M recently provided me with a sample of their 3M™ Basic Utility Duct Tape, and overall, I came away with a very positive impression. One of the first things I noticed was how easy it is to tear by hand, which makes it especially convenient for quick repairs and everyday tasks around the house. That small detail alone makes it much more user-friendly, since you do not always need scissors to get the job done. In terms of strength and durability, it performs about as well as other standard duct tapes I have used, so it feels reliable for typical household needs. It also comes in the classic gray color that most people expect from a traditional duct tape. The roll size is practical for general home use and should work well for smaller repairs, light projects, and basic utility tasks. However, if you plan to use duct tape frequently or for larger projects, you may want to consider buying a larger roll so it will last longer. Overall, this is a solid, dependable option for everyday household use.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I received a free sample of 3M’s Utility Duct Tape for my objective review.
When using 3M's Utility Duct Tape, I noticed that it was thinner and had less adhesive compared to standard duct tape. In the attached picture, you can see the structure of this tape (shown on the left) through the adhesive compared to standard duct tape (on the right) which has a thicker adhesive.
To test its properties, I used the tape to repair a vacuum hose. It adhered well and was flexible enough to go around the hose without creasing. The tape tore both horizontally and vertically. When tearing horizontally, the ends appear to pucker (item on the left in the attached picture) compared to standard duct tape (on the right in the attached picture). The puckering does not affect its adhesive capabilities. The tape does not appear to pucker when tearing vertically.
With its thinner structure, this “utility” duct tape appears to be best used on lighter, indoor tasks that need a more temporary tape compared to standard duct tape which is used for more permanent, heavy- duty applications.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I used it to hang my quilting mat . One of my holes broke through thru border edge and i put this on top of the hole were the border cracked work extremely well being a thin duct tape and strong and i could stretch worked great! also my hooks were losing up reinforced it with the duct tape only reason I didnt give it 5 star the tape is hard to get started because it is so thin
