The Tab S9 is too much

I was replacing a Tab A I have had for ~5+ years. I thought I wanted something bigger and opted for the S9FE+, but in truth, it's too big. Great for the times I want a "laptop-like" tool available for responding to a string of emails or needing to split the screen, but too bulky for the many times I simply want to flip it open while I'm lying in bed. To be fair, I have it in a folder that includes a magnetic keyboard.
There is also a strange phenomenon I can't yet explain. I replaced my Tab A because I found that after activating the screen (I typically don't power it down), it would often go blank when I would turn it up from a flat position to face me. Tapping the screen didn't re-activate it. The same thing is happening with the brand new S9 FE. Might be something I'm doing wrong, but it's a head scratcher.
