I bought these because of all the great reviews. I thought it would be great to be able to simply write on the dividers and erase them/wipe them off afterward rather than dealing with getting tiny slips of paper in and out. However pencil or Sharpie seem to be the only writing utensils that work. The pencil is erasable and doesn't smear too much but you can hardly see it on the colored tabs. The Sharpie is obviously permanent which defeats the purpose. Ballpoint or ink pens do not work at all. I had to use a (Sharpie brand) felt tip pen which smudges and smears right off even after drying. Great idea; poor execution.
Dividers are very nice. Cannot get ink pen to write on them so have to use pencil which works. I like the white dividers versus the colored tabs and glad I can still find them at Staples.

Well I'll tell you: the tabs are big...it's true. They divide sections of paper contained within a single binder like that's their intended purpose. I haven't written on them yet but I bet I could! 14/10 Stellar product. Would buy again.
I really the being about to erase the tabs when I made a mistake or need to reuse the item. It sertainly beats gluing a strip of paper over the old writing like we did when I was a secretary.
