Great color and image, week audio

This projector has great color and image. It has lots of connection options. It's easy to set up. My only complaint is about the built-in speaker, which is not loud and there is no audio output. If you use the HDMI port, you will get stuck with the low sound volume and cannot use an external speaker.

Incredible Projector! One note on Slideshow
on July 11, 2011

Wow, this Projector blows me away. It is extremely light, extremely bright, even with room lights on. The projector is really easy to work with. (Macintosh Laptop 10.6x) USB Video works fine from the laptop after installing the software Epson supplied. The remote is very handy and all functions can be accessed from that.
It has switchable inputs and a variety of formats. This means you can have a slide show on a USB flash drive as well as a movie on a DVD or Blu-Ray player feeding it HDMI and switch in the middle of a presentation between sources. Very convenient!
It comes with a nice small carrying case for travel. I love it!
The USB flashdrive slideshow feature does work and was a huge selling point for me. This allows presentations without a computer. One note that took me a while to figure out. For my presentations I need slides to last longer than 1 minute. (The max duration on the slideshow setting) To set the slide show to manual slide advance, set the Slide time to "None", by scrolling below "0" on the Slide show time. I tried scrolling beyond 60 seconds and couldn't find it. This may seem small, but before I figured it out I had to bring two computers to my first presentation, one for the slide show and one for music and other functions because the slide would advance automatically after a minute. THIS IS NOT MENTIONED ANY WHERE IN THE OWNERS MANUAL. (It does allow a "Freeze" button which places the large word "Freeze" in the upper right of the screen. Huh? Why would any one want that? There may be a way to get rid of the word "Freeze" on the display but it's not in the owners manual.) Thankfully, now that I've figured out how to have slides sit for as long as I need them till pressing "Advance" on the remote, I'm very happy with this projector.
If I have any complaint it's that the owners manual could be more clear and thorough and that Epson would allow a "Display" option to turn the word "Freeze" off while freezing a movie. Luckily I don't need that feature (yet).

Epson EX7200 Multimedia Projector
on December 27, 2010

The Epson EX7200 is a versatile projector that can automatically detect any single input source or allow a manual choice from multiple connected sources. I was able to project a slideshow via the USB port not only with a thumb drive but also with a camera multi-card reader. I was also able to directly connect my little Sony DSC-HX5V point and shoot camera via an HDMI cable (not all point & shoots allow you to do this) for a live video image, playback with audio of a recorded AVCHD video, or playback of still images all directly from the camera. In addition, I could project the video from a little portable DVD video player (like kids might watch during a long car ride) via red, white and yellow RCA type cables or watch a VHS cassette from my tape deck via the “S” video port. And all this before even connecting it to a computer!
On the minus side, when reading 10 megapixel images from a thumb drive or card reader, manual slide advance can be slow. It may take 4 or 5 seconds of view time with a current image before the image data for the next slide gets transferred to the projector and is ready to view. So don’t expect to be able to quickly flip back and forth through lots of 10 megapixel images. Also, Epson’s built-in slideshow prefers image names without spaces. It does project images with spaces in their names but the name won’t appear under the thumbnail on the preview page and the slideshow projection order can sometimes be a bit quirky. The slideshow’s “wipe” transition is what one expects a wipe to be but the “dissolve” is a pixilated effect that may not be to your liking. You can choose either wipe or dissolve, random or none for the transition.
If your point & shoot will connect via HDMI you can give a slideshow that bypasses the Epson built in slideshow and flip images instantly using the camera’s playback button like a remote. This method also allows you to play an in-camera movie when you come to it or use the camera’s playback zoom-in if you wish. The minus side here is that most digital cameras will only play their own original images and not images modified on a computer and transferred back to the camera card.
To connect a Mac computer you need to have a VGA adaptor and there are different VGA configurations. The VGA adaptor I used with my earlier Mac PowerBook doesn’t fit my current MacBook Pro. It isn’t the projector’s fault. Apple keeps changing their port configurations. Check that you order the correct one for your model if using a Mac. Once your Mac is connected and the projector auto-detects it, you may find that you get a projected image different than shows on your computer screen. If so, open your Mac’s System Preferences and click on Displays. In the Display window, click the “Detect Displays” button and then with “Arrangement” highlighted at the top, click to check the “Mirror Displays” checkbox. You only need to do this once and your Mac will remember from then on. The “Mirror Displays” option won’t appear in the System’s Display Preferences unless the projector is connected.
Audio does not get transmitted to the projector’s speaker via the VGA (Component Video) port. You can attach an additional cable from your computer’s audio output to the projector’s RCA audio jacks if you wish to use the projector’s speaker but audio quality is about the same as that of a laptop speaker. Use a separate amp and speakers if audio is important.
The projector ports are very well labeled with large silver letters against the black case. I love this! An additional printed symbol indicating which way the USB type A port is oriented would be appreciated.
The 126 page User Guide is a PDF document on the included CD. It covers four projector models mixed together. This can be a frustrating read as you attempt to extract the EX7200 information from that of the other models. Thankfully the projector is easy enough to figure out and a bit of trial & error will work just as well.
The included carrying case is adequate but a few more pockets would be handy for the bulky cables, card reader or thumb drives you may wish to keep with the projector.
The image is excellent. The brightness is great. I am happy with my Epson EX7200 and would recommend it to anyone wanting a very versatile, portable easy to use projector.

Met my needs well

Ease of use is exceptional. The way is searches for the source is great. I plugged it in and "BAM" it worked. I have 2 laptops one with an aspect ratio of 16:10 and the other with 16:9 plus some that are standard 4:3, and finally my desktop is 16:10. I needed a projector that worked for them all; and this does it. Plus I got an Epson Duet 3000 screen that adjusts its size as well. Great combination. I expected it to be a little brighter in very bright locations; but it is still adequate in that environment. Plus playing a blu-ray video was not perfect, but very good. Overall it was a great investment.

Projector

We bought this projector to use with our lap top at the church for praise and worship time, and informing the congregation. It seems easy to use, but I would like to have a manual that I can hold and read while changing settings, rather than everything on the CD and in the computer. Makes it inconvenient for me, and I have had a few issues that I couldn't figure out easily.
It has a good, clear picture on the wall, and the church is not very dark.
Thank you!

I took the projector from the box and was using it within about 5 minutes. I was able to hook-up the USB cord and start using the project as it was meant to work. The remote was also easy to use and made it simple to go through a power point without walking back to my laptop. the romote also has a pointer feature along with a zone feature which helped my group see the details I was triing to show them. The Resolution was excellent, and the brightness was just as good. I would highly recommend this product.

I purchased the EX7200 as a first projector for
my family. I am extremely satisfied with both
ease of set up and the quality of the picture.
I would not hesitate to recommend this projector
to anyone who is in the market for a great little projector at a great price.

Easy/Awesome and Dual Use (business and home)

Incredibly easy set-up and awesome picture. Simple instruction with all potentially required wiring (USB or VGA and power cord) in box including the bag and remote. All I had to do is plug in the electric and connect USB to computer and the software installed automatically. The remote is great with buttons to change the slides on the presentation and even zoom in. Only thing I could wish for is the remote had a laser pointer feature. Besides better picture and easy USB connections with Epson's 3LCD over competitive DLP technology, the 'no-cool down' feature with 3LCD is the only way to go. In other words, once I finish my presentaiton I can pack up and go, unlike with DLP I would have to sit around waiting for the fan to cool the unit.
I purchase EX7200 for the HD (720P) resolution for both business presentations and home threatre use with me blue-ray laptop.
In a few months I will buying from Epson their projector screen (80 inch wide-format) which folds ups into a carrying case. I see movies and gaming outside (backyard and driveway) in the near future.
