I really enjoyed building this set, the headlights look better in person, the whole shape its very close to original car. Love the working engine looks amazing. I would have also wanted the real winner Ken Miles number 1 car, but ultimately it does have a big fundamental flaw and that's that it does not have a differential. The 1 wheel drive aspect of this kit really removes me from the immersion of the build. I hope Lego stops doing this 1 wheel drive builds. Make a smaller diff or something it really breaks away from the realism of the build. Specially for a set $10-$15 more expensive than the others in this class for some reason.
I would recommend this to a friend!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Awesome Lego set. Instructions were easy to follow and didn’t have any trouble putting it together. Had fun with my partner piecing it together and can’t wait to put it on display! Highly recommend:)

Perfect for classic racer fans

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I finally build the LEGO Ford GT40 last night. It took me about 3 hours, super relaxing.
Love how it captures the real 1966 Le Mans beat: sleek black body, gold wheels that pop, opening hood plus rear engine cover with a detailed V8, working steering, and those cool swinging doors.
Minor gripes: lots of fiddly stickers, no suspension, basic interior.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I recently built the 1996 Ford GT40 MKII Race Car with my husband and honestly loved the whole experience. The details are impressive for the size, especially the front design. It was fun but not too complicated to assemble, and it looks great. Feels like a perfect mix of nostalgia and creativity for car lovers.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Absolute best influenster program ever! The packaging was pristine, the accuracy to the real 66 GT40 MKII was amazing! The weight makes it feel more like a collectable than a toy, and the stickers brought the whole thing to life!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This was so much fun to put together! I surprised my husband with it and he was super excited as he loves legos. Later that night he went on his friend group chat to show all his friends and they all thought it was a very cool Lego set! We put it together with each other and really enjoyed doing it. Very clear instructions and such an awesome result when it’s all put together. The car is very durable, the pieces aren’t just falling apart or coming apart easily. Anyone will enjoy this. Definitely worth the money!

Detailed Car, Fun to Build
on March 10, 2026

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I enjoyed building this set. It took me about 3 or 4 hours to build and contained 6 bags of legos. There is a section about the car in the beginning that was interesting to read, though my instruction book was a bit ripped on the edges of the early pages. The instructions were pretty clear and easy to follow, though I did miss a step near the end and had to redo a small portion. The front hood, back of the car, and the doors open, and there is a mechanism to move the wheels so the car can be steered and moved around. There is a lot of detail that went into the chassis system and the appearance that I appreciate - the headlights being pieces and not stickers are a nice detail. Based on pictures, it looks pretty accurate (within the capabilities of LEGO and without using custom parts) to the real car, though I am not a collector or an expert on cars.
It was bigger than I expected (not sure why I thought it would be smaller) but looks really nice displayed on a desk or shelf. And it looks like it would be fun to play with even if you aren’t a collector.
