Almost perfect

Everything about it works perfectly, as advertised. My only minor issue is with the modes and not being able to set a single temperature instead of the minimum-maximum. Otherwise, the work great and interact with Alexa just fine. Alexa CAN set these to a single temp so I use that app instead of Google Home to control them.
I would recommend this to a friend!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I've had this for over a week now and have really enjoyed the thermostat. It was easy to set up and pair with the app. It looks great on the wall with the mirrored finish too. It blends in nicely with the wall, but also gives a subtle pop of technology, which is a nice look in my opinion.
The new touch "dial strip" works fine, but if you're accustomed to the older style Nest as myself, you have to remind yourself not to turn the entire dial/device. This is the entry level thermostat, so please keep in mind that it does not pair with remote temperature sensors and it is powered from provided batteries (that you'll eventually need to replace) instead of wall power. However, it has the full version of the Nest thermostat app, which works/functions as one would expect.
It's easy to set up and have it start learning your routines and suggesting new temperature settings. If you feel so inclined, you can even set up geofencing where, for example, you can set a "bubble" around your home (e.g., 5 miles) so when you enter the bubble, it'll start heating or cooling your home to the desired temp, which is a neat feature. I've enjoyed the past week with this Nest, and would recommend it to my friends. In fact, I purchased one for my mom for her house.

I love the Nest Thermostat! The first night I adjusted the temp from home hub and I continue to check and adjust the temp using the Google assistant. I haven't had it long enough to see any reduction in my utility bill but hopefully I will soon. Easy to install and easy to use!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I didn't think I needed a smart thermostat in my life but it turns out I did. This little gem is easy to install in a few short steps. Then the fun begins! You can adjust temperatures in your home from the unit itself, an app or with a Google Assistant. You can also schedule temperature changes for throughout the day. No longer do I have to remember to turn the temperatures down when I leave or monitor heat vs ac. Such a great addition to our home & it's efficiency! Will be purchasing additional units for around our home.

The Google Nest is not a Nest Thermostat

The Google Nest is not a Nest Thermostat. I ordered one under the assumption that it was a Nest that would be compatible with Google Home but it's a different operating system, look and feel... and in my case it happens to be incompatible with my heat/AC which wasn't clear since it initially worked. Also, many functions can only be changed from your phone which is irritating for guests who do not have your phone. All in all, the Google Nest system should have it's own name to avoid confusion with the original Nest thermostat.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

The Nest Thermostat itself only uses the Google Home app for setup. Our priority with this launch was to create an integrated experience with other Google Nest products and to make the Google Home app as the one place you can control all your Nest and other smart home devices with the Google Assistant. If it's showing that it's not compatible with the app then we would need to take a better look at the device you have and help identify why it's not working as intended.
