I have this on every high dollar item in the house that is not on a UPS. Washing machine (all electronic model) TV, Stereo Equipment (McIntosh gear). It's better to be safe than sorry. In total I have 6 of these and will buy again if needed.
I read several reviews on this surge suppressor and it looks to be just what I needed to protect expensive electronics at the wall. If it had Japanese capacitors it would be premium as they are the best in the industry but the reviews show its a good unit.
New appliances are chock full of electronics that are affected by power surges. At 13 months, our new washer's motherboard was clobbered. We replaced the board, on our nickel, since the warrantee was only 12 months. That was over $300. A month later the new refrigerator was hit with a surge after 15 months of service. Another $400 plus. I searched online and found the Isobar Surge Protector. After reading the specs and warrantee, I bought four and attached them to all the appliances. That was almost a year ago. So far, everything is working as it should. Unfortunately, there is no way of accurately noting how well these surge protectors work since they do not produce logs. Anecdotally I assume the Isobars are doing what they are supposed to do since I have not received a note from the power company telling me that they have "fixed" their surge problems and yet everything is working. I guess the Isobars are like bullet-proof glass - until you are shot at, you really don't know you are safe.
I have had at least 2 other Tripplite products and could not be happier. We are using the Isobar unit for our washer and dryer. We never gave much thought to all the electronics in these new appliances until the washer developed problems that were very expensive to correct. The repairman strongly suggested we get a surge protector and that is exactly what I did. Now we are resting comfortably knowing that the sensitive electronics are protected from surges.
