Built Like a Tank

After suffering through a lightning strike over a year ago and losing a ton of equipment, I equipped the house with Tripplite surge protection equipment. The HT10DBS is an absolute tank in it's construction and seems like it would halt just about anything...though it hasn't been tested with a real strike. The only thing that prevents me from given this a full 5 stars is that they need to up their ethernet ports to a full gigabit (1000MBS), else your new networking equipment is slowed to a measly 100MBS.

Quality, sturdiness, flexibility, worth the price

When I decided to upgrade my home entertainment system a year ago, I needed a way to power and protect multiple devices in my equipment closet. I researched "premium grade" surge-suppressor strips and quickly chose Tripp-Lite. I've used their ISO-BAR products in computer applications for decades, so I knew they work. To find this same technology in a large, roomy power center designed just for home entertainment systems was pleasing. There's plenty of space for plugs and smaller "power cube" adapters. I didn't make use of the RF connectors, but there's plenty of them. The LAN and telephone jacks came in handy for many recent consumer products like my receiver and BD player are "networkable". One thing I would love them to add is USB power jacks for recharging 3D glasses. And they could make the graphic labels on the indicator lamps larger and easier to read in a crowded closet.

This protector is worth its weight in gold... It has survived several lightning strikes and never failed.... I took not having one for granted and had my flat-screen fried in a nearby lightning strike.... Good work on this product...

Perfect for Entertainment Centers

Whether you are only powering you television and cable/satellite box or you have a host of A/V devices as well as gaming systems, the HT10DBS is perfect for both. I own some of the larger Tripp-Lite surge protectors/battery back-ups, but I didn't see the need for one that large to protect my home theater. This isobar is suits my needs for both protection as well as the room to plug everything in! Where I live in Texas we have a lot of thunderstorms, which tend to cause brownouts (those annoying an possibly damaging on/off/on/off power fluctuations), yet this unit has kept all of my equipment in great shape by not allowing any power spikes to make it past it's protection and into my equipment. I recommend this unit highly! J. Ellis, TX

Perfect size for my needs and worked when I needed it

I use this surge protector for my home entertainment equipment. I have seven pieces of equipment so the eight outlets on this strip is the perfect size. A year or so after I began using it my house was hit by a power spike. I had an old tube tv in my kitchen that got fried but everything plugged into this protector was fine. The protector still worked, but I could smell a faint scent of burning wire insulation. I called TrippLite and the arranged to send me a replacement with no questions and no hassle. I didn't even need to send the burned out one back. That's much more than I expected and has made me loyal to the TrippLite brand.

Product is very versatile

There is one issue that has to be addressed in my view: When lightning strikes the phone line, the OUT J11 terminal becomes disconnected from the IN J11 terminal. There is no means to reset the working of the phone terminals from the outside. I don't have the schematic of this unit so I can't comment. It would be advantages to have at least a manual reset button on this otherwise wonderful product.

Excellent product, quality you can see and feel. After purchasing this protector and observing the quality I only buy tripp lite products, and replaced all my existing inferior protectors.
