I live in the Midwest and my HT10DBS has saved me numerous amount of times. I own 3 of them. They have saved my audio and video to my PC and WI-fi . I have owned them for years and only had one problem with one of them. that was when we had a direct lightning hit out side my home on my farm. it exploded a huge oak tree and took out the phone line in on the tripp lite HT10DBS. "I would love to show the tree but i cant find anywhere to upload a photo" I contacted tripp-lite and told them about the situation and they were very courteous and got me a new one on the way. I highly recommend this product.
Perfect product for any home Audio/Media Entertainment System. Look no-where else to protect your valuable audio investments, you will not be dissatisfied.
When I first received my HT10DBS, I was running a 50" Plasma, a midrange AVR, BRP and two low end subs. It worked beautifully but most noticeably was an enhanced picture from the Plasma, even my wife noticed it, asking me what "tweak" I had done. As my set up increased, I moved up to a high end sub and added a power amp. Now with the amp and the AVR connected to the HT10, I got some line hum. If I put them at opposite ends of the bar, it would minimize the hum but it was still there. I ended up getting two more amps for my set up now running 3 amps and an AVR and 2 high end subs. What I ended up having to do was get a second bar, one from the "amp" company that could handle several high current components. It's been near 6 years since my purchase of the HT10 and I still continue to use it in my set up. I like the fact that it can be rack mounted, very convenient! It has served me well and has earned a spot in my rack for life.
I previously bought a different manufacturer's surge protector, however it was discontinued and had to look for another. Upon finding this one, it had all of the right specs I was looking for other than a 10/100/1000 network connection, though it is not easy to find them now a days for any reasonable price. I have my computer, monitor, and printer connected to this surge protector and everything is great. Another thing preferred would be a digital display of the current, but the quality is fantastic on everything else that it did not matter.
I use this for my theater equipment in the living room. I don't use the RJ-45/RG-6 connections, since they are protected at the demarc with another rack mounted UPS. I purchased this as it protects better with 4 times the Joule count as my old one. I use TrippLite UPS units at all of my companies 80+ locations.
I live in Tampa, Florida, the self-proclaimed "lightning capital of the country". When I needed more outlets than my previous 8-outlet surge protector, I sought after a 10-outlet model. Then, while doing my research I learned of the fire hazard a surge protector with plastic casing can pose - apparently, if you get a direct lightning strike, the plastic can melt and catch on fire. Given my location, and considering I have seen many direct lightning strikes growing up here in the not-so-aptly-nicknamed "sunshine" state, the risk seemed high. I spent extra money to ensure that if it failed during a direct-strike, it would not melt and/or catch fire. The narrow design of this unit is perfect for fitting behind my entertainment center. Also, the 4 outlets with extra surrounding space allow me to plug-in all of my power cables, including those plugs which appear to be designed with no concern for what else might be connected around them. Lastly, the coaxial protection does not seem to be affecting the picture quality on my cable television at all. Great product.
This is most likely the best surge protector for the money one could purchase for the home. Its metal casing sets it apart from the rest. I have found as claimed a measurable reduction in line noise on my home receiver. Highly recommended.
