I bought these as they indicated a 12 lb weight. Used these to hang 3, 4 lb framed pictures. Hung 3 tabs on each frame. All fell down within 20 minutes; breaking $40 worth of frames. Dent in my wall...Wasted money on these command picture hanging strips and lost $40 worth of new frames. I can’t fathom how 3M’s test lab got these to work.

I bought the Large command strips to hold a 6lb picture frame, and put 2 sets of strips on the frame after cleaning the wall and frame of dust etc. The strips held for a few months and then failed, breaking the relatively expensive frame ($80) and damaging the baseboard in my new home as it fell. I am very disappointed and this is the second time this has happened. The first picture I had fail, happened after a few weeks on the wall. I am staying well below the weight limit and securing them correctly, and feel something needs to be done. At least replace the damaged items.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Command Strips work wonderfully when the instructions are followed. I used them carelessly and didn’t clean the wall and the item fell and removed paint. I cleaned the wall with a household cleaner and the item fell. I clean the wall with rubbing alcohol and allowed it to dry and they have worked better than advertised.
As a college student if I wish to decorate at all I am forced to use command strips. Considering my present reputation for having the "Martha Stewart" dorm, decorating is a must.
I have used a variety of products, and have found them hit or miss at best. Let me elaborate. Last year, I bought strips rated up to 6lb. I hung a banner (about 2lb), a stretched canvas (about 6lb) and a wall mirror ( about 10lb). They were great, for the first two days. By the third day, all of the previously mentioned items fell, and the mirror was shattered across my dorm floor. Thanks for the seven years bad luck to start my college career. But after the incident I bought the 12lb strips, and used excessive amounts to finally rehang everything but the now broken mirror.
This year I didn't play around, I bought 12lb strips or better. Today has me fit to be tied. My wall tapestry is hanging perfectly with 8 of the poster strips (yay). My banner, canvas, and picture however (between 2lbs-6lbs) are a far different story. The canvas can still not be hung with four 12lb strips. I've determined that it is a lost cause and I'd spend less putting a nail into my dorm's wall. The banner will not stay up even with four 12lb strips, which is a disappointment as it ties the room together. and The picture, well it hung, but when I decided to move it, the strips ripped the frame apart.
So yes, for certain things and when the sun, moon, and all the planets align, command strips are great. However, the rest of the time I have found them a horrible disappointment.

Used these to mount a Leap Motion controller to my HTC Vive headset. Holds strong after pulling it off the headset and clicking it back into place numerous times. Used the remaining two strips to hold two circuit boards together while providing some separation with the thickness of the strips.
