Great but one thing

The SMART1000LCD UPS is better than all other brands. It performs exactly as specified EXCEPT: Even though I have my Windows 8.1 Pro PC Desktop BIOS set to read all connected USB devices on boot up, is also set to Legacy, the "Power Panel Personal Edition" icon in in my Windows tray, and the included cable is connected to an active USB 2.0 port, every time I boot my PC and later look to "self test", the "icon" is "grayed out". I have to unplug the cable from my PC and plug it back in to do a self test. It works until the next time I shut down my PC and boot it later.
I would recommend this to a friend!

EXTREMELY HAPPY!

My power went out three days ago and my TRIPPLITE SMART1000LCD performed like a champ! I work from home so it's imperative that my computer is running even in the worst of weather. The TRIPPLITE SMART1000LCD gives me complete confidence that none of my work will be lost! I would recommend TRIPPLITE over all other UPS products!

Simple to setup and orient display to horizontal position. Has been called upon already in the first week of use and worked as advertised. Great product and would recommend to friends.

"project protection"

It's never a good time to lose power. You can expect problems during a storm but it is the unexpected downing of a local power pole that totally catches you off guard and in the middle of an important project on our computer. A UPS gives you that time to save your work and shutdown your hardware. The other critical component is protecting your equipment from a surge that can fry your hard drive, which is more costly in time to repair than the cost of the device. The Smart1000 quietly does it's job behind the scene.

Great for the price

Has a lot of nice features, including the LCD display, for the price point. I bought two one exclusively for my PC's tower and the other to power modem, router, printer and all other accessories. 2 units provide me with a total of 2kva with a relatively small footprint. Pleased with the performance so far.

Stopped Working

This product worked well for 3 years, but then quit working. Will not perform self test, and provides no backup in power outages. Will also turn off on its own even without power outage.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
