I used the direct plug-in Isobar Surge Protector for my built in refrigerator. It is doubtful that I will ever need to use the second plug on this outlet, but never say never, so purchased this unit knowing that in the event that I do use the second plug, that each plug is protected separately. With the price of built-in appliances these days, it is worth investing in a good surge protector! Modern appliances are equipped with electronic boards that are very sensitive to electric surges. I have a whole house surge suppressor and still had a board in one of my appliances go bad after a storm, so now have Tripp Lite surge suppressors on the outlets used for appliances.
I bought one for my hot water heater in the garage. Love the confidence I felt about it protecting my tankless system. So a year later I bought one for my TV in our living room. Solid construction. If I have another appliance that needs protection I'd by another.
I already have one of these protecting a $3500 refrigerator (that toasted it's main control board before I did protection). This 2nd one is protecting a $2500 washer and dryer with electronics. It means I don't have to pull the plugs from the wall between laundry days, and I know that Tripp Lite is on the job!
I bought this to replace another surge protector we had on our washer and dryer. The other one did its job and protected the appliances from being damaged in an electrical surge. I was disappointed when I could not buy the same item to replace it. I searched the internet and found this one. It was easy to install. I won't know how well it works until there is another electrical surge. Hopefully, I won't have to find out.
Excellent Product. All metal extruded aluminum housing. Toroid EMI/RF filter; Triple Metal Oxide Varistors, LED Diagnostics. Attractive and built to last. Real surge protection I can rely on. $10K Tripp Lite damage coverage for connected devices. Reasonable price. What more could you ask for. All together, a rare value.
It's not pretty but this surge-protected outlet is awesome! I just finished rewiring and replacing a bunch of electrical outlets in my 1996-built condo (I figured it's not a good sign when appliance cords sparked as they approached being plugged in!). I have some outlets located in areas that were not suited for a regular surge protector with a cord. These surge protectors fit the bill and the indicator lights let you know that all is well. I made mine "permanent" by using the center screw and included mounting bracket but you can choose to just plug it in and remove it as needed if you wish. Highly recommend.
