I'm about 3 weeks in to my Garmin experience and I must say that the D2 Mach 2 is pretty darn awesome. Loving all the fitness tracking and it is really helping me on my journey. I'm still learning all the golf and trail tracking functions, but so far I am very satisfied. NVG functionality is as advertised.
Only thing I would change is a green LED light, instead of a red...but red isn't too bad.
I’m really impressed with this watch; it’s a fantastic upgrade from the D2 Air X10. I opted for the 47mm model and I'm glad I did—the legibility is much better. The built-in flashlight is easily the best feature so far, and the leather bracelet feels very high-quality. While I’m still mastering all the features, the only minor downside is that I found the METAR app slightly more convenient on the D2 Air X10. Overall, it feels solid and well-built.
This is my 3rd Garmin aviator watch and they have all been great. I feel confident having a third backup if i have any instrument failures. The D2 Mach 2 updates many features like screen quality and mapping to higher resolution. I have not used but really wanted the option to be able to answer on my phone which Garmin is a bit lagging compared to others. The price is a bit steep considering you now only get the leather and rubber band where prior level D2 brought the titanium band which was nice as the leather will age rapidly. I was able to use my titanium band from my prior model. I dropped the rating due to higher cost and not including that metal band. But overall I am happy with my choice and the look of the watch
I like the Mach 2. Had it for a month now. I wish it had Garmin Pilot connection to android but I have iOS for now so it’s been working fine. Wish I could pull up a fish finder of traffic around me that would pair to my phone connected to internet adsb traffic. Also wish it had cellular. Besides that great watch. Use it for workouts, sleep, flying etc. Wish the built in aviation map included some airport information on the airports plotted on the map.
I was really excited to buy this watch, been wanting it for years. I think most features are more accessible laid out better from what I hear. But they took away airport information and frequencies. Which is a major drawback for me. I think I may be sending it back because of this.
