My athletic outdoor type kids have switched to Garmin years ago and I had been sticking with Apple Watches. I’m a big outdoorsman and boater so I finally pulled the trigger on the Quatix 8. Got it just in time for a run down the Intercoastal from VA to SC. WOW!! I’m kicking myself for not getting this watch sooner!! This thing is AWESOME!!!
I bought the quatix 8 to replace my quatix 6 that I have had for 6 years. It was still working great, and I have been very happy with it. I have always been amazed at the battery life, and the fact that 6 years in it is still going great. The advancements, with touch screen, and sound/mic were what prompted me to upgrade. So far I am very happy with the changes from the 6 to the 8. Those features specifically make an already great watch so much ewasier to operate and use day to day. I am not a person who always has to have the latest and greatest tech. I tend to get comfortable with tech I am familiar with, but this was a easy change to make, and I am very happy with the decision to upgrade.
I have had the watch for a couple of weeks, am very satisfied with my purchase. It interfaced seamlessly with Garmin Connect, my phone (iP16), and my chart plotter (Garmin 943 XSV). Menus are mostly intuitive, but you will get significant benefit from reading the manual and understanding how the apps work.
Works well for strength training sets as well as hiking / walking. Battery life is, to me, excellent. I use the features on the watch a fair amount, and I've charged it twice - about 9-10 days (yes, I know, the ads say "up to 16 days", but I'll wager that's bare bones access. I also charge before it goes dead, usually 10-20%).
The Quatix fully meets, and in some cases exceeds my requirements. Price was up there, but if you have and use Garmin products, it works with them pretty seamlessly.
This watch was a generous gift from a client. I was letting them know that it would be a great watch for a yacht owner friend. In turn, they gave me one for appreciation and a birthday gift. I’ve had it for about a month now. Previously, I had an Apple Watch. I like the functionality of it But I didn't love that I had to charge it so often . As a boat captain sometimes I'm on the water for more than 12 hours And my watch wouldn't last one whole shift. With the features of this watch obviously for what I do is amazing plus the long battery life and all the other features es That Garmin connects to with vessels is a plus I'm really enjoying this watch .
I bought it 3 months ago and this is the second watch. The first one stopped working and was replaced by Garmin. Not as intuitive as IWatch. Garmin wins due to navegation features or those of us with boats. I am not a golfer but I cannot remove golf and golf maps from my garmin! Would I recommend? Only if you own a boat. I am a bike enthusiast and I prefer Apple over this one. Too thick and bulky Expensive for what it does. Hopefully in a years term Garmin will come up with a better watch. Tip for Garmin, please use AI to help design a better watch and to add AI features on it.
