The total gym is great for working abs, shoulders, love handle, upper body, lower body and just about anything. You can taylor fit the workout that works for you. The plastic card holder for the top of the machine is nice.

Cons: Carpet, Does not roll well across

I love my Total Gym!!

I am so glad that I bought a Total Gum! I absolutely love it! When I first started using it, I got so sore from the arm exercises-- I was the sorest I've ever been in my life and I'd been doing what I thought were the same exercises on my arms for years. What I discovered was that I worked muscles on the Total Gym that I had never worked before and that just told me I was getting a great workout. After a week of being incredibly sore, I was able to resume my workouts and have never been sore since. I also bought a treadmill around the same time I got my Total Gym and now I walk 2 miles on it and then do arm exercises on my Total Gym. I have thighs that are pretty muscular (and big) to begin with so I am trying to avoid doing thigh muscle building exercising right now 'til I get some fat off. I haven't really seen the cardio benefit from the Total Gym, maybe it's there but I haven't seen it. That's where my treadmill comes in. In the beginning, I watched some of the DVDs and did the workouts with the trainers but it's really hard to follow along--I had to have my boyfriend pause it so I could readjust the machine to do the exercises. But I did learn that I can benefit from 10 reps so that's what I do because I do my walking/Total Gym workout routine at least 5 days a week so I don't want to overdo my arm workout. I'm just getting started finding out about it too so I know there's a lot I can still learn about how to get the results I want. The gym is also a great place to stretch. I can comfortably lie on the bench and thoroughly stretch my legs, arms and chest. It's so easy to add in some ab work while stretching or working out. I love my Total Gym and I am so glad I bought it! I highly recommend getting one.

Great piece of equipment

Good Morning, Just wanted to let you know what a delight the Total Gym has been since I purchased the exercise machine in October 2011. I kept the phone number for over a year and decided it was time to use the machine in my home after having back surgery last year. After six months of rehabilitation and physical therapy, I had completed my program and decided to use the Total Gym rather than join a gym. I showed my physical therapist some of the exercises. He was very supportive. In fact, he actually owns a Total Gym. After using my Total Gym, my strength and flexibility has increased. I am physically challanged as well, so it is very important for me to stay strong and flexible so I can power through the busiest of days. Thank you so very much for a great piece of equipment.

In all honesty I was hoping it would help me to loose weight as I exercise with it 6 days a week. It has strenghtened my muscles which has been good for my upper back and arms but not for my waist line.
