Total Gym allows a low impact work out for gaining muscle tone for some one with a bad back & neck. It is so adjustable, that over doing it never becomes a problem. A great design.
Pros: Comfortable, Sturdy, Compact storage, Quiet, Easy To Use
Cons: Packup has some glitches

Ive owned alot of equipment in my life and by far this is the best machine I have ever purchased. I love the fact I dont have to spend time going to the gym and I have tailored my workout to my specifications and I spend 30 minutes 3 times a week working out I am 47 and I have gained so much more strength. I am toning up, cant say enough good things about this. Price was good too.
Pros: Sturdy, Easy To Use, Comfortable, Quiet, Easy Storage, Easy To Set Up, Strengthens

So simple - yet so effective!!!!

I've seen this being advertised for years and never really thought it would be effective. Well -was I wrong!!! This is the BEST piece of exercise eqipment I've ever used. I own a stairclimber and a schwinn rowing machine - but never felt the results I'm feeling with Total Gym. Besides I had to use both to get both upper and lower body covered. This machine is so smooth that you get all the muscles as the movements are continuous and not sporadic as when you use free weights.
Pros: Quiet, Sturdy, Easy To Set Up, Strengthens, Easy To Use, Comfortable
Cons: Bulky

Great for partner or couples workouts

I really like the product. It's great for quick workouts, toning and "weight lifting". Having a partner make the changes in the level and/or accessories (as much as possible) makes the workout even better, faster, more efficient and effective since you don't have to stop to do those things. Great selling point too! The workout cards should demonstrate on the back, the muscles being used. Having very specific technique or form tips on these cards is crutial to this machine. Injury is easy if you don't know what you're doing. The videos are good but form is critical and the videos go quickly. Even with a remote and pause, ensuring I'm doing the exercise correctly with good/correct form, to aviod injury or muscle pull is very important. I used to have a bowflex and injured my shoulder, stopped using it for 6 weeks (doctors orders) and never went back. The workout cards are great. Having the cards on the top of the machine and loose/individual is good and allows you to change the order but if you drop them, well... I put the number of the "level" on a post it note on the cards since each exercise requires different levels. If there were a way to write on/wipe off (grease pencil type impliment) and a box or space on the card, which would allow for this purpose, that would also be helpful and make the workout that much more efficient. If the cards were in a binder or rings which would allow you to change the order and just flip them that would be ideal! If they were in an easle type prop that could be set on top of the machine by a pole mounted on the back of the binder or set up on a table, this would also allow for easy use and quick reference. This would also allow you to quickly set up a workout in the order you want and refer to it throughout your workout or skip pages as needed. The ultimate would be a contact number for personal trainers in your area (who KNOW the Total Gym and have used it a LOT) who could come to your home and work with you to get you started (for a fee of course). If you contacted gym chains across the country (Gold's Gym, Fitness Fun, etc) you could have them contact you and keep that information available on your 800 number. Talk about personal customer service!
Pros: It is easy to use and fun, Great for quick workouts, Easy To Use, Easy Storage, Comfortable, Strengthens, Easy To Set Up, Quiet, Sturdy
Cons: Video not easy to follow, Demos shld emphasize form, Cards should demo muscles, Form is critical

Almost A Perfect Workout Tool

I think the product is wonderful; the extras that have been added are great. Like the ab attachment, the pull up/chin up attachment and the tricep attachment are very helpful. The one thing for me being over 6'2" inches tall, some of the exercises are harder to do. If you had a total gym option for tall people it would be perfect, or advice on how to do some of the exercises w/o hitting the stops. But still, I've lost 23 lbs and use it regularly.
Pros: Sturdy, Easy To Set Up, Easy Storage, Strengthens, Quiet, Easy To Use
Cons: Not for tall people

I love the product. It is taking me a while to figure out all the different exercises. Sofar it has been great for upper body and endurance type training. I am still trying to figure out how to get the leg exercises perfected.
Pros: Easy To Use, Quiet, Strengthens, Easy Storage, Comfortable
Cons: Hard To Set Up
