This is such an easy product to use, once you get it set up all you need to do is follow the direction on the CD. The total work out can be done in 20 minutes, however when you first start out its going to take you some time to move from exercise to exercise. I have also purchased the Cycle Trainer and this is the best trainer for your cardio training...get the Total Gym, and when you do use it, don't just use it for a coat rack.

Overall: I was pleasantly surprised at the level and numbers of exercises available with the gym. My 14 year old and I use it the most and even my 8 year old will do the occasional workout and the exercises are incredibly easy to change mid-stream to get the aerobic and strength(muscle failure) you need for a great workout. I would challenge with the variety of exercises that you could easily use it for cross-fit (muscle confusion) type workouts. The primary quality of the equipment is excellent with all the pieces feeling sturdy without feeling overly heavy. My only disappointment has been the foot bar used for situps and the glide board vinyl itself. The foam on the foot bar tore slightly within the first couple of uses. It hasn't gotten any worse, but it shouldn't have ripped in the first place. I also had to call and have the glideboard replaced after a few months as the vinyl began to tear where the staples held it to the board. Overall, we are having a great experience with the Total Gym and look forward to many years of use. Setup: Setup was relatively easy. I know it seems obvious, but read the instructions first; it'll save you five minutes of scratching your head. When at it's lowest incline setting, it is fairly long so you will need an ample amount of space (at least 7-8 feet) with cushion space around it to make it work. Start-up Video: I made the entire family watch this. It provided a good overview of some of the exercises, setup, storage, and some key what not to do things like not to leave the pully hooked up to the glide board. Exercise changeover: I have used the workout programs included with the gym and think they provide a good routine with easy changes in between exercises. As you reach muscle failure at certain points, it only takes about 30 seconds to drop the level of incline and resume your workout. This is key to the aerobic portion of your workout, because you don't want your heart rate to drop and then have to pick up again. The combination of exercises and the order they are in makes many of the transitions absolutley seamless so that you can literally finish rep #15 on one exercises and with a change of direction of your hands or arms, start the next exercise with the next rep; sometimes I am able continue 4-5 different types of exercises without breaking stride at all. Summary: Total Gym is an excellent product that my entire family enjoys using. With a little better quality on a few of the accessories, the product really can't be beat for value.

Everything I Had Hoped For!

I have used the Total Gym XLS for two months. I purchased it to help me get fit after a long while not doing any strength training. When I began I could only do four reps of some of the exercises in the Start up program. I use it two days a week and am up to two sets of 12 reps. I am at an age where I need to proceed slowly. My energy is improving and I plan to try the 8 minute work-out for women in another month or so. It is sturdy and stable and works smoothly. I love my Total Gym! I had no problem setting it up the first day.

I bought the Total Gym as a Christmas Gift to myself. It was a breeze to setup and so much fun to work out on. The setup and starter video was tremendous help. After reviewing the Workout Cards, I created my own workout. I work out about an hour 3 - 4 times a week. I'm already gaining strength and flexibility. This is not a piece of equipment to collect dust. I am tremendously satisfied with my purchase.

I have watch the commericals about the Total Gym for years and finally purchased it. It has been one of the best purchases I have ever made. I have been using it for two months and I have begun to see a change. I have lost weight and tuned up. I would recomment this product to anyone who wants a good work out and to get into shape.

My favorite exercise equipment ever!

This is my second Total Gym. This piece of equipment makes working out FUN! My doctor, a sports medicine doc, has told me that this is the best piece of exercise equipment on the market for folks who are getting a little older, as it is very low impact and does not put stress on the joints. And yet it excerises over 90% of the muscles in your body. I love my Total Gym!
