I work out on my Total Gym at least 4 times a week for 45mins along with a healthy diet. Total Gym has helped me to lose up to 55pds! It's great that you can work out every part of your body. I also like the fact that you can go to totalgym.com and there are videos to help you get started.
Pros: Easy To Use, Tones, Comfortable, Quiet Operation, Strengthens, Sturdy

I purchased the XLS. Make sure you see the Start DVD, because it it much easier to set up (my husband) never reads or looks at directions, so it was a little harder, by 30 mins, should have been 10 mins. In my younger days I was a non competitive body builder, so I have a little knowledge about equipment. I wasn't real sure of it when I first unpacked it, but it seems to be a good piece of equipment, it is smooth and quiet, but a little learning curve from what you see on TV, but still good. I used it first at therapy for a knee surgery/rehab, the one at rehab is the 14000DLX (wished I had gotten that one instead). The only thing I don't like about the XLS is the squat stand, WAY TOO SMALL. I'm use to a bigger surface at gym and therapy for squats. I only gave it a 4 because of the squat stand.[...]

It's more than you think

My wife wanted to purchase this but, I was sceptical by thinking it wouldn't work well. After setting this up (took a bit to figure out how), we started using it. My wife only worked out for 2-weeks and slacked off but, I fell in love with the gym and use it three times a week.I have noticed an improvement in my appearance and my wife has too. I have a bad back so it is nice to be able to do upper body strengthening without straining it.I would recommend this product to anyone.
Cons: Very Heavy Unit

I retired almost tw0 years ago. I realized that I needed to up my activity level and increase my strength as I was losing strength and had gained almost 20 pounds. I had previously belonged to a gym but got tired of that after a while. I purchased the Total Gym in May and I am using it about five times a week. I use my version of the start up, Pilates, and long and lean routines. I leave my Total Gym in place so I don't have any feedback on setting up and knocking down. I do like the versatility of the Total Gym - I actually now look forward to going upstairs, turning on my music selection or the Pilates DVD and working out at my pace in my space. I spend more time working out on the Total Gym - first because I am retired and can but also because I am not driving to and from a gym. I also have the option to create different routines using the material provided - the DVDs and the cards. Changing up the music and the routines keeps it interesting. I can see an increase in strength and in flexibility. I have lost weight but I will attribute some of that to some heavy duty dieting! I do, however, credit the dieting and Total Gym with the loss in inches. As I age, it is critically important to maintain my strength. I find the Total Gym provides me with a method that works for me.
Pros: Easy To Use, Comfortable, Sturdy, Strengthens
Cons: Noisy Operation, Hard To Set Up

Before we got the Total Gym our work out consisted of going to the grocery store. Now we work out at least three times a week and we have more stamina, strength and we are looking better too. I would recommend this piece of equipment to anyone of all ages for their home even if they go to the gym. It could never be a waste of money. I am a heart patient so the low impact stress free workout is great for me. My wife who has had hip surgery can even work out too, without pain thanks to the Total Gym.
Pros: Sturdy, Easy To Use, Quiet Operation, Comfortable, Strengthens, Easy To Set Up, Easy Storage
