This is my second total gym. I purchased my first TotalGym 3000 in 1997 while watching the infomercial with Chuck Norris. I am also a 3rd degree blackbelt and was looking for a multi functional piece of exercise equipment that would keep me flexible, strong, toned and not "mechanical" as the gym machines (my karate master was not a fan of those machines). I have gotten 20 years of great workouts on my Total Gym 3000 and have finally treated myself to an upgrade with the Total Gym XLS. It is a still a great product and with the variety of DVDs that accompanied it I am amazed at all the additional exercises and techniques that have been added to the repertoire of this system. It is a great system that I can do anytime with multiple exercises without changing positions on the glideboard.
I use the Total Gym in conjunction with weights, some machines at the gym, and yoga. But I am still fascinated with my new XLS! I am now a 58 year old female and still bike, hike, run, snowshoe...etc. and the Total Gym helps keep me strong and flexible. Not to mention it is challenging and fun. I have passed my old Total Gym 3000 onto my friend and workout buddy. She is getting acquainted with Total Gym now. Oh, I also love the blog with its variety of workouts from many trainers and users as well.

Quality all in one machine

I received the Gym XLS as a gift from my fiance. It is a well built, fully functional, all in one exercise machine. No need to go to a gym, you can work out in the convenience of your home. The exercise options are endless. Smooth transition from one exercise to another. It comes with DVD's that show you how to set up the machine and how to use it. The exercises start with beginners and work up to advanced. It's very detailed and it is a great way to get started while working your way up to more challenging programs. Highly recommend it to anyone, especially for someone like myself who is there mid 50's, easy on the joints but provides a serious workout. The example videos on the website demonstrating the exercises broken down per body part were extremely helpful to get an idea of all that one can do, specially the videos of Christie Brinkley.

This is my second Total Gym I’ve owned and like my first, it continues to amaze me. If you’re like me with a face paced lifestyle, this is definitely worth the investment. Even the 6-8 minute workout included will get you sweating.
My only complaint, and I don’t remember it doing this with my last model, is the foot attachment. It makes a frustrating popping sound right in the middle. It’s really bad during the calf raises and I have to adjust to avoid the loud popping sounds. That’s the only thing that drives me nuts, every other thing about this is amazing. It’s not even a factor or negative selling point.
If you’ve been debating on buying this for a while just get one, you won’t regret it!
