PERFECT MACHINE

THIS IS A VERY SIMPLISTIC MACHINE THAT IS EASY AND ENJOYABLE TO WORK OUT ON. IT DOES NOT LOCK YOU IN TO A SPECIFIC WORKOUT OR WORKOUT FORM. YOU CAN BASICALLY CREATE YOUR OWN FREE LANCE WORKOUT AS YOU GO ALONG. OR OBVIOUSLY USE THE EXERCISES AND WORKOUTS PROVIDED WITH THE MACHINE. I USE MINE ABOUT 20-30 MINUTES/ AROUND 5 DAYS/WEEK. IT IS PRIMARILY USED BY MYSELF AND MY WIFE FOR GENERAL, STAY IN SHAPE EXERCISING FOR TWO PEOPLE IN THEIR MID-FORTIES. THIS IS MY SECOND TOTAL GYM. I AM VERY HAPPY WITH IT. MY ONLY COMPLAINT WOULD BE THAT IT DOES NOT STORE AS EASY AS IT SOUNDS LIKE IT DOES. THEY SHOULD CREATE A STRAP TO HOLD IT CLOSED AND SOME TYPE OF CLAMP ON THE SIDES TO HOLD THE HANDLES IN PLACE SO THAT THEY DO NOT ENTANGLE THEMSELVES AS YOU TRY AND MOVE THE MACHINE WHEN IT'S CLOSED.
Pros: Strengthens, Easy To Set Up, Quiet Operation, FORM FORGIVING, Comfortable, Easy To Use
Cons: Bulky, LONG UNIT

When I reviewed the exercise videos for my Total Gym XLS, I was impressed with how informative the instructions were. The Rob Glick and Rosalie Brown video is very informative, but was hard to follow when you first get on the machine. If you have any problems with the equipment transition, you fall behind on the video. You then have to find the remote and stop and rewind. That was very frustrating. Use the videos for instruction and not to follow along. Works better that way. I also liked the instruction given by Martine Scott on the Pilates. I'm looking forward to exploring that side of the Total Gym. The instruction by Dan Isaacson is very motivational. The only thing about his instructions is that he contradicts the set up of the Wing Attachment. Rob & Rosalie say to place it facing down on the lower part of the gym and Dan says to place it facing up. I was excited to get the cable handles that came with the XLS, because I wanted to use them for more leg workouts like used by Wesley Snipes in the advertisement. This handle design is a bit longer and doesn't allow for a total stretch when using them for the hook pulley cable crunches. I still love it. I can get on it at any time. I can do whatever exercises I wanted in any order. I love the privacy and not having to wait to get on it like at a gym.

I have a standard exercise routine every day. It takes about 20 to 25 minutes a day. It is a full body workout. Prior to using the Total Gym I suffered from uncomfortable shoulders, lower back pain, and sore knees. I have been using my gym for 6 weeks and I feel great and have taken off 2 to 3 inches off my waist. I tell people my friends all the time how much I enjoy working out at home know. Thank you for this wonderful product.

I LOVE THIS MACHINE. I can work out in the comfort of my own home at a time that works for me. There are no long lines to wait for a machine. I have lost 10 lbs and a total of 7 inches in 6 weeks. My son comes home from IRAQ in 2 months and I want him to see the new me. (Hopefully less of the new me) haha

Glad we bought one

My husband and I are in our 60s. We used to go to a gym, which had some great machines, but I did not like having to wipe the sweat off from the person before me! This way, I do not have to. I have severe rheumatoid arthritis, so I have to set the machine at a much lower level than my husband does, but it helps to make sure I work all my muscles, not just some, and I do want to keep going as long as possible. My husband already looks better than he did prior to our purchase. We like the convenience, look forward to trying more of the exercises possible, and, best of all, we tend to use it every day.
