My husband is able to use the Total Gym with his crushed ankle without any weight baring issues and our son (paraplegic) has enjoyed the easy access to changing the machine. The 6-8 minute workout has been a big hit because we are always on the run... Biggest disappointment has been the footplate - has popped and sounded like cheap plastic since the first day.
Pros: Easy To Set Up, Easy To Use, Comfortable, Quiet Operation
Cons: CHEAP PARTS

This a great piece of equipment. I answered the "describe yourself" question as a frequent exerciser but before I got the Total Gym I NEVER exercised. Maybe some walking, 1-2 days a week. I called that working out, ha. Now I work out EVERY DAY! I use it to the 6-8 minute workout dvd for women. I do the first 3 days of workout in the morning every day before work. I haven't done much with the other 3 days because I am targeting my legs and abs, which by the way, I have gone down 2 pant sizes (4 inches)!!! Not to say the other dvds don't touch on those parts, I just really enjoy the exercises on those 3. I can almost do the whole 3 days with out turning on the dvd player, but with it on it's like someone is there working with you. My plan is to work on my target areas and then move on to the other 3 days and work them into my routine. My son (16) works out with the cards and is targeting his arms and abs. He is loving his GUNS. My daughter (15) a runner, conditions her legs and arms. My husband uses it for strength and over all exercise. This equipment is the bomb! Its addicting and I love the way I feel when I'm done with my work outs. I'm full of energy. It's true what is said on the commercials, you can feel it working the minute you use it, and the results are, well just that, results. They're great!! 2 pant sizes, 4 inches in my waist!!! How great is that in just 2 months. Like I said, LOVE IT LOVE IT LOVE IT. I have nothing bad to say about the total gym. It's great.:) :)

The set up video is one of the best "how to" videos I have come across. The set up and usage process was described and demonstrated plainly and effectively. The workout videos move along rather quickly, I think the setup changing could be slowed down just a bit. Setting up the gym is easy, however, the cable handles dangle around in oblivion and they usually end up getting stuck or jammed when I go to fold up the gym. If only there were a hook or tidy little pocket to hang them so they could be neatly tucked away for storage.

Total gym is wonderful, very easy set up and use. You can follow the exercise cards or create your own, but no matter what you do on the total gym you are working your muscles. The best word for me to describle the total gym is smooth! It is actually fun to use!

The DVDs included have been the most helpful to me. The 18 exercise workout that's on the same DVD as the Pilates is GREAT. I do 30-40 minutes of medium cardio before I get on my Total Gym. My t-shirts are drenched when I'm done. I let myself get really overweight over a long period, but am remembering now how it used to feel to be in shape. I WILL get there, with my Total Gym.

My weight loss was alreay doing great just using a treadmill everyday. But it really sped up once I added the total gym three times a week.
