New Knee lifesaver

I have seen the Total Gym ads for years and dismissed them until I had Knee replacement surgery in January of 2009. My Physical Therapy place had a commercial model in their arsenal of rehab equipment and after one use I went home and ordered my Total Gym online, GLAD I DID! The Total Gym makes it easier to exercise damaged joints that truly need the extension and flexion that cannot be achieved without the Total Gym, personally the Total Gym makes basic movements like walking much easier because of the range of motion that the machine allows me, also I have increased my exercise routine and it has helped with my weight loss I started at 464 lbs. in October of 2007 and currently down to 362 lbs I realize that I still have a long way to go, but with the Total Gym's help the trip will be easier. Total Gym XLS

I have the Total Gym set-up in the basement and it took only a few minutes to pull it out of the box and set it up. It is very easy to move up and down to adjust the levels and to put any of the attachments on. My only problems is keeping up with the enclosed CD to move from one attachment to another. Maybe there should be a slight pause to allow for this. I use the Total Gym at least 20 to 30 minutes in the evening. On the weekends I use it a couple times a day. Due to being older and not excerising all over, I have weak arms, shoulders and legs. The Total Gym has helped to use muscles I haven't used in a long time and to increase my strength. Women tend to have problems with their shoulders over time and the pull ups and over head movements has added strength and movement in my shoulders. I have been able to move from 2nd level to 3rd level with most arm and leg movements. I am also diabetic and this has made a difference with my health especially on cold days when I can't get outside to walk.

Terrific exercise machine

The first time I used this product was during physical therapy for my knees. I thought the machine was a great way to train and do low impact exercises. It adjust for level of difficulty as my strength increased. I'm a paramedic, so this is a great way to gradually increase my upper body strength. I really like the pilates video that comes with it and have noticed flexability improvements.

I would like to use more than I am able to right now due to work requriements, but the stretching aspects of the machine really help get the kinks out of the lower back.
