Best Decision Ever

I suffer from neuropathy in both lower legs/feet. My inability to move over the last 5 years led to over 100# gained. The Total Gym is sturdy enough to support me and easy to set up, even on my unsteady legs. It allows me to exercise my lower body in ways that are impossible on my own. I was able to follow the introductory exercises (albeit at a slower rate and lower reps). Over the first six months of use, my strength, stamina, and steadiness built incredibly. As a bonus, I lost 50# in time for my 60th birthday! My Total Gym now has a permanent home, open and ready for use every morning. Best decision I ever made was to invest in the Total Gym!

I bought this gym over a month ago and still don't have to put together. It is not a one person job and I don't have help in the home. I would return it but the price to ship it back is expensive. There are many steps to assemble this gym and the instructions are not clear. I am an educated woman and I still could not figure it out. I suggest buying something different

This product is heavy for a 60 year old woman with back problem and a petite one at 5 ft tall. But I have only tried it once since I got dizzy trying the beginners exercise and I had a hard time folding it back I am afraid my finger will get caught in between those bars.

I purchased this because I am 60 years old and have back and knee problems, I was looking for low impact, but need overall conditioning. Some of my issues are with raising and lowering the glide board-not as pictured in videos and the unit slammed down on my foot-ouch! The pully system for arms and legs also should be addressed to actually clip securely to the tower, VS the open D ring system-always afraid the danged thing is going to fly off and hit me in the head! Videos so far are helpful, the printed directions are too small to see. I have resorted to You Tube more than once to correctly assemble accessories, since what was shipped do not match the videos. A video geared towards the older population would be appreciated!

I have had the total gym XLS for slightly over a month now. I work out with it 5-6 times a week. It arrived quickly but the box was damaged badly. I really thought the machine would be damaged also. I thoroughly inspected it and it wasn't damaged at all and was very well packaged. I read all the included info and watched all the DVD that were included. This really helped to get used to the equipment and I recommend every one to do the same as there is a learning curve involved. The included training deck is also very useful. It took about a week of use to feel good about getting on and off the machine as well as making adjustments for the different exercises. After about a week and watching the DVDs occasionally for a second time, I was very at ease with the machine. It will definitely give you all the work out you want. You can make it as hard or as easy as you want. I am 56 y/o and did not want to nor did I have time to go to a gym or use free weights. This equipment is set up in a spare room now and is convenient, quiet, safe and effective. I was in ok shape, but since using the machine, now I am much more tone, feel stronger, and have lost a little weight. I am very satisfied with my purchase and my only neg would be the price, as it is built solid and should last for years. I would think they could be sold for less and probably sell much higher volume. I researched them for a few months prior to buying and am totally glad I did. I have no regrets and would buy it again if I could do it over.

Not What I Expected

I am frustrated with the gym and have stopped using it and go to the fitness center instead! It is hard to put attachments on (seems like the holes don't line up). I can't use it on my hard wood floors because the unit slides so much when in use. I also do not feel secure when using the leg pull-up bar and it is very uncomfortable.
Pros: Quiet, Sturdy
Cons: Uncomfortable, Hard To Set Up
