While this may be a plastic surge protector, the regidity of the unit gives me confidence it will last for years without trouble. It is screw mounted to the underside of a desk and supports a PC, 2 monitors and test equipment. Tripplite is the best!
I am the technical director for a large church. I have many pieces of electronic equipment I am responsible for but have to deal with inexperienced users that are the operators for the equipment that travels to venues outside of our campus. On more than one occasion equipment was damaged due to surges while visiting other locals. Since I purchased six of the TLP712B (inexpensive) surge protector (with 12' cord) and instructed users that that must be used, I have not had a problem. I am quite pleased with the quality, price, and level of protection I have received from these devices. I will recommend this surge protector to anyone wanting to insure the safety of their electronics and not have to blow their budget.
Overall a good product for the price. The cord doesn't twist and the strip lays flat. Seven outlets serve my office well. I will be purchasing a couple more of these.
If Tripp-Lite stands by its warranty, then this can't be beat.

I bought this from "New(what comes before chicken).com" because I needed a surge protector with a long cord, as part of a cord management scheme I was designing. The product itself has a nice heavy duty (quality feel) 12' cord and smooth/clean plugin body. I literally just received this product so I cannot attest to its longevity, but the price was right and the reviews on the retailers site were excellent. $25,000 warranty coverage of connected equipment is excellent. 5-Stars.
