Tremendous watch, very readable whichever watch face you use. Great battery life (16 Days), just does everything well, love it, stored 900 songs on it so use with earbuds in gym.
I have always worn Apple Watches as fitness trackers and have always been annoyed with them. They were really good at being smart watches, which I found was the annoying aspect, and they were mediocre at tracking fitness and that’s being a bit generous. I don’t want a phone, or an extension of my phone, on my wrist. I want a time piece that also tracks fitness very well so I starred researching purely fitness trackers and zeroed in quickly on Garmin watches. After settling on the idea of giving up the Apple Watch Ultra 2 to give Garmin a shot, I decided on the Tactix 7. I was getting ready to pull the trigger when rumors of a Tactix 8 release was coming soon so I decided to wait, and wait, and wait. When it was finally released I jumped immediately. I’ve been wearing the Garmin Tactix 8 since its initial release and all I can say is “WOW”. The only regret I have is not making the switch sooner and I will not being going back. There is a common theme in the Apple Watch vs Garmin Watch debate that sums up the differences. The Apple Watch is a great smart watch with some fitness tracking features, and the Garmin Watch is a great fitness tracker with some smart watch features. I could not agree more and the Tactix 8 is the cream of the crop as far as my needs are concerned. I live in the Rocky Mountains of northern CO. The environment is very hard on all gear and so I tend to buy the roughest and toughest gear options available or it just gets chewed up and spit out. So far the Tactix 8 is exceeding expectations and genuinely and quickly improving my sleep and health for the better. The sleep tracker and coach is life altering if you act on the data. I anticipate the Tactix 8 should provide many years of solid, dependable wear and fitness tracking. I could not be happier about my purchase and to me, the higher cost is well worth it.
… I guess I would be fine sort of given the lackluster upgrades over the Tactix 7 but Garmin… you guys seriously? 2k watch and you can’t bother to give me two straps? Why is it that I’m being told that watches purchased outside of the US got both the rubber and nylon band and ones purchased inside the US only get rubber? Come on?!
I've been wearing Garmins for over a decade, and this is a huge step in fit and finish, functionality, screen, and just about everything. I never leave home without it.
