My S50 Approach Watch

I got this as a birthday gift and I love it. It seems to have all the features and more that a golfer wants. I only wish they would have included a summary guide in the box to remind me of all its possible features. GARMIN support is a big positive here.

Pleased with Garmin S50

I have retina disease which is progressing and makes it difficult for me to use my range finder. The Gramin S50 has been a godsend for me. The color screen is clear and waste for me to see. I know my iron distances very well and the Garmin S50 makes it easy to hit my target. Thank you for a great product.

I bought a S 50 golf watch for my wife for Christmas. She absolutely loves it. We went golfing a week later and it happened to be foggy. I tried using my range finder and it would not give me a distance because of the fog. My wife looked over at me and gave me the yardage from her new watch. That was it. I bought myself a S50 watch and love it also.

Disappointment with the Garmin Approach S50

I hesitated for some time before purchasing the Approach S70, but ultimately decided against it because it seemed to have too many features and was too expensive. Instead, I chose the S50, which I believed offered simpler functionality at a more reasonable price.
However, when I took the S50 out for my first round of golf, I found that the course view was not displayed on the screen. After returning home and checking further, I discovered that I would need to pay additional fees and subscribe to a membership in order to access the golf course view.
When I was considering the S70, I was informed that all course views were preloaded, so I naturally assumed the same would be true for the S50. While it is partly my responsibility for not reading the specifications more carefully, the product images clearly show a vivid course view on the display. Based on those images alone, I reasonably expected that the course view would be available. Learning that I must pay a monthly subscription fee just to see the course view leaves me at a loss for words.
If I pay the membership fee for about three years, the total cost becomes equivalent to the price of the S70. I find this to be a very underhanded marketing practice. There are many products on the market that are cheaper than the S50 and still provide course view functionality without additional charges.
Because I do not wish to pay even a single additional dollar for what I consider to be such an unfair business practice, I have decided to stop using the S50 altogether. This is my review of Garmin products.

Great features for the price

I bought this a couple weeks ago and I like all the features. I used to have a Apple Watch and a Garmin S20 for golf. Now I have all or most of the features I had with the Apple Watch and I don't have to swap it out for golf. The Golf features are easy to use and the Garmin golf App is a nice feature to review your round.
