Not preferred by all teachers

The color choices are strange. For basic coloring, there should be each of the 3 primary and 3 secondary colors, brown, white, and black. Then there should be light/pastel versions of each of these (pink, peach, pale yellow, light green, light blue, light purple, beige, grey.) Then there should be red-orange, yellow-orange, blue-green, red-violet. Then there should be maybe a darker pink color and a couple of other skin tones in addition to the brown/beige peach.

Thank you for sharing the colors you'd like to see in the Crayola 24-count Crayons. We are sorry this assortment doesn't meet your colorful expectations. For many years, this assortment has been preferred by teachers, but we also understand that teachers may like a wider assortment to choose from. That is why we also offer specialty packs such as Color of the World Crayons, single-color options in a 12-count package, and the 64-count Custom Box of Crayons on Crayola.com. We are always striving to offer products that meet the needs of our consumers. Feedback like yours is helpful to achieve this and we will share your comments with our Creative Tools Team. Our team is here if you'd like to share more about how we can improve on this product. Feel free to contact us at 1-800-CRAYOLA. - Chris, Colorful Care Team

Very Fragile Crayons

Our 24 pack Crayons purchase for this school year are all very fragile. The tops all began snapping of on the first day of school. The students were not putting too much pressure on the crayons. It has happened to the teachers as well. I now have a small bucket full of "crayon hats". This has not ever happened in 15 years of teaching.

When did Crayola stop putting pigments into their products
Seems like this art supply is a cheap replacement for the crayons I used when I taught art. Young children aren’t physically able to transfer these weak colors to a paper.
I would rate it 0 if it was available!

Where has the quality gone?
on October 15, 2025

Crayola Crayons have always been a dependable high quality crayon. The last years quality has gone down hill. This year takes the cake. I am an elementary school teacher and all the teachers agree that crayons are made thinner and break without effort. A crayon just needs to roll off the desk and it either snaps in half or the tip breaks off. For the students who take great pride in how they take care of the crayons - it's very upsetting. What was really an eye opener was finding an old box of crayons (about 5 or 6 years old ) in the back of my supply closet! The difference in quality was unmistakable. I can't believe that a company like Crayola has taken the cheap road. I know our school is looking for another brand of crayon that won't break so easily. It's frustrating to me as a teacher....but so much more frustrating for the kids trying to color! Come on Crayola! Bring back the quality !

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with our 24 ct. Crayons. As an educator, your perspective is incredibly valuable, and we truly appreciate your dedication to your students and their creative experiences.
We’re sorry to hear that the recent quality hasn’t met expectations. Durability is especially important in classroom settings, and we understand how frustrating it can be when crayons break easily—especially for young artists who take pride in caring for their supplies. Your comparison to older Crayola crayons is noted, and we’ll be sure to pass your feedback along to our product team.
If you’d like to share more details or speak with someone directly, our team is available at 1-800-CRAYOLA. We hope to speak with you soon. -Taylor, Colorful Care Team
