Addicted to VR? you have to upgrade..

Not as comfortable as the Quest Pro because of my asian high cheek bones. Although after adjusting the front upwards it was a bit better but now your front panels are tilted upwards slightly... I tried the rubber facial mask and it is a bit better also but nevertheless I think the Quest Pro with no rims hitting your cheeks is a much better solution. The pass through for AR is NOT that exciting. Just a little bit better than Quest Pro but it is still grainy exactly like the Quest Pro under low light situation. When you get into areas with better lighting you get a lot of warping as sections combine together. You still cannot read your phone screen directly, you can but it is like peering through broken sectionalized glass. TV screens are washed out, too bright. No high resolution HDR 4k passthrough video here. It is just one small step above Quest Pro. At least with Quest 3 you can enable passthrough to go to the washroom without the border locking you down and actually blacking out your vision at least that was what happens with my older Quest Pro when I headed to the loo. Also this time around I didn't buy the elite head strap because I thought I might try using the Quest 3 while lying in bed but unfortunately I couldn't figure it out on how to make the few movie viewers to work while lying down. You need the hand straps made by meta because the straps replaces the battery cover and it is made especially for the controllers. No bulky and weighted silicon made by 3rd party vendors. The rubber face mask and elite straps are optional but it all depends on you whether using the included cloth strap is good enough. Although the quest 3 is light enough without feeling face heavy getting a proper head strap is a priority for long term use. Here is the problem with comparing it with the Quest Pro. All the upgraded games with better graphics will only work with Quest 3 and not with Quest Pro. Your Quest Pro graphics even with better graphics will still function like a Quest 2. So if you want better graphics, you have to upgrade. Lighter replaceable battery controllers which is a plus!! because the Quest Pro controller batteries which are rechargeable they are not removable where-as the Quest 3 controllers can replace the batteries on the fly in the middle of a game and that is..... very very important... because you cannot charge the Quest Pro controller batteries which using them. The FOV on the Quest 3 is just slightly wider and the corner of your eyes will tell you so. You feel like your head is just slightly more into the VR world and out of the corner of your eye (and certainly my asian wider eyes can tell you), you can feel it. The unfortunate thing though is the IPD is maxed out around 69 or 70 when you dial the dial as far out as possible and it goes like 68, 69, max..... probably meaning 70. My IPD is 72.... which I guess at 70 is good enough. 72 would be better though but at least it is two panels unlike quest 2 with one panel. I felt the increase iid with 2 panels when I upgraded to Quest Pro and if you are coming from Quest 2, the 2 panels with ipd of 70 will be a great eye strain relief. It is too bad we lost the eye tracking of Quest Pro but but the improved object detection makes up for new hardware with automatic boundary mapping. Both giving you automation with Quest Pro automatically setting your IPD and the Quest 3 automatically creating your boundary. No eye tracking means no foveate rendering so all the nice graphics will render fully but seeing that no games were ever created with foveate rendering anyways, no loss. Might as well toss the Quest Pro away or sell it as quickly as possible. The only thing that the Quest Pro has over Quest 3 is no binding face mask that hurts the cheek bones. Since I am reviewing the 512GB model we all know that by the time we get all the accessories like the elite battery strap plus hand straps, our total comes near the $1k mark. Not cheap. Is it worth it? we don't have a choice!! as all the games will be upgraded for better graphics with Quest 3. Wider FOV, a little bit less grainy passthrough colour graphics (just slightly but still grainy), game graphics that has nicer visuals. It is better but not $1k better but you don't have a choice because you need to buy it just like you need to buy the PSVR2, both for better immersive graphics. Oh and by the way the Quest 3 will fit in the Quest 2 elite strap case; the case that you get whenever your elite strap broke and your strap gets replaced and then your case is left behind. Found mine and stuck my Quest 3 into it.

My account disabled and all my games gone
on November 23, 2024

My Facebook account, which I've had for over 7 years without any problems, just got disabled today. My business page is on that account with ads that I paid for running.
My streaming page is also on that account, and all I post are computer pictures and chat with family and friends. 80% of posts on Facebook are scams, and yet my account gets disabled for no reason.
The worst part is that there is no support to call or contact, so I lost money, my business page, and streaming page. Facebook is the WORST PLATFORM.

Played Golf+ and a few other games. I found that it glitches every now and then. Also, price paid and it comes with this crap strap. I wish they'd include the elite strap straight off the bat. For these two things, at this price tag, I cannot rate higher than 3 stars.

This is an incredible VR device and a worthy successor of Quest 2 -(minus the headstrap). Haven't had any problems and am enjoying every battery draining minute of it

Finally, VR is Here.

As a an old guy waiting for years for a VR headset worth using is over. It's not 'life-like' yet, of course, but extremely entertaining.
Great visuals in VR and AR/MR. More games using the Quest 3's power will come.
Buy the 512gb version and the external battery and premium strap -- It's not too expensive really -- a good value for function when compared with modern (soon to be obsolete) 2d TVs.

The optics is a huge improvement
on November 5, 2023

Despite the advertised improvements over quest 2, the best improvement is rarely mentioned. The optics on this unit is far ahead of the quest 2, more so than any other feature. Simply put it on and your good to go, not like the quest 2 where i’m spending time adjusting and tilting the unit so the image is clear and mostly in focus and at times having to readjust. Just the optics alone is worth the upgrade. I’m not noticing the higher resolution so much as i’m noticing the crisp and fuss free clarity from the optics, the focus being a huge improvement. It seems the quest 2 resolution is lost to the cheap optics.

Amazing product.
My first VR headset and I am already loving it.
I use it to play games(cricket, boxing, table tennis, etc.) and exercise.
Great graphics.
A single charge lasts around 2 hours.
