Much improved!

Virtual/mixed/assisted/augmented reality remains a work in progress, but the Meta Quest 3 is a big step forward. It's very noticeably quicker than the Quest 2, image quality is considerably better, audio is amazingly good, and to be able to see what's actually around you by just tapping the headset is a huge step forward, a game changer. The Quest 3 hardware is now good and powerful enough to support more than the basic and very limited apps of the past, and I look forward to a lot more mixed reality apps/games. Kudos to Meta for hanging in there and, step-by-step, advancing the state-of-the-art at a reasonable cost.

The clarity is incredible, very light weight. A huge improvement over the first oculus quest. Battery life a little short, recomend the battery head strap

A Step Closer to Blurring Lines Between Realities
on November 3, 2023

Upon my first venture with the Meta Quest 3, I was immediately struck by the sheer clarity and resolution of the display. As someone who’s experienced the Quest 2, I can attest that the Quest 3 nudges much closer to an indistinguishable blend of reality and virtuality.
The new pancake lenses are a game-changer – they not only contribute to a noticeably improved field of view but also enhance the comfort due to the slimmer profile of the headset. However, it's a slight letdown that the headset still doesn't feel lighter, and the standard headstrap doesn't seem to do the new design justice.
Where the Quest 3 truly shines is in its full-color pass-through video feature, which takes mixed reality applications to an unprecedented level. Experiencing something like First Encounters, where the fabric of my actual room melded with the virtual world, was nothing short of breathtaking. This is where the Quest 3 sets a new bar for immersive experiences.
Despite the impressive tech, the user interface remains identical to that of the Quest 2, which is a bit of a missed opportunity for innovation. My gripe with the interface is the clutter; there's a noticeable lack of customization, such as hiding uninstalled games and apps, which could streamline the user experience.
Performance-wise, the Quest 3 packs a punch, but this brings me to the crux of my disappointment — the battery life. For a headset boasting the latest and greatest in wireless VR technology, the sub-2-hour playtime feels like a tethering cable, hindering the free-roaming experience it promises.
In conclusion, while the Meta Quest 3 astounds with visual fidelity and groundbreaking mixed reality capabilities, it's undercut by the lackluster battery performance and some design choices that leave room for improvement. It's a leap forward, but one that reminds us of the leaps yet to come.

Fun but uncomfortable

Love the games and events and such, but can't wear this thing for more than 30 minutes without getting a massive headache and losing sensation in my scalp, no matter how loose the strap is.

Great new hardware

I was a big Quest 2 fan.. so getting the Quest 3 was a nice update. My only complaints is comfort for me personally. But Meta does have the new silicone face replacement.. which normally I would purchase through third party, but they seem to be the only ones with it right now. Also wanting a new strap, as I don't like how the current one goes across the top of the head. I was a fan of the BoboVR strap because it eliminates the need for a strap to go across the top of the head. Other than that, the Quest 3 is definitely for any fans of the Quest 2. I'm anxious for more FOV in the future, but the pancake lenses definitely feel better than the Quest 2 lenses. Also the new software update seemed to fix battery drainage issues.

Needs One REALLY Good Multiplayer Game
on November 3, 2023

It seems like the reason VR isn't doing so well is due to Meta's lack of a standout multiplayer game. There are a bunch of good games but there isn't a GREAT one. If you are looking for strictly a Quest 3 review: 1. Battery life is bad. Consider lowering the price of the extra battery strap or even including it in with the headset. 2. Charging an extra $40 for the rubber padding is criminal. 3. First Contact is fine but First Hand is so slow and boring. 4. I have more to say but I doubt anyone is reading this so I'm stopping here.

The mixed reality is the highlight of this headset. The games are so fun! Demeo, Dungeons of Eternity are my favorites so far. Many more awesome games coming!

Awesome update to Quest 2

I use both my Quest 2 and HP Reverb VR headsets depending on what I want to do (work out, watch movies vs PC VR gaming). I was pleasantly surprised how good Quest 3 was, it’s not my main headset for ALL my VR needs!
I love the clarity of the headset and just recently tried out Horizon Workrooms for the multiple VR monitors and it really easy amazing to do some coding when you only have a laptop. I do wish I can physically connect with my computer with a usb-c to do the same vs having to use WiFi so I hope this gets implemented in the near future as that would be a game changer.
All in all I’m extremely happy with my purchase and would recommend it even for existing Quest 2 users.
