Really great hardware! Poor developer experience.

I love the headset itself. Fairly comfortable, great controllers, haven't encountered many bugs. Games are fun and look great. Mixed reality is cool, almost good enough to use my phone without taking off the headset.
On the other hand, I bought this headset to get into MR development and that has been a big letdown. The Meta documentation is unintuitive and out-of-date in some places. The most basic native SDK example straight up does not compile. The quest developer forum is mostly unmonitored and full of ridiculous spam. IMO the headset API is locked down too much. For example you can't even access the camera to detect QR codes. They say this is for privacy but it should be up to the user to grant camera permissions, like every other AR platform out there. These SDK restrictions really hold me back from developing cool MR apps.

Perfect except for battery life

Overall, the quest three has been really great. Every function has worked. There has only been minor bugs when it comes to exiting a game but I think it’s rare the only other issue I have besides the greatness this has to offer is how short the battery life is. I can only use it for about 45 to 60 minutes before it dies but otherwise it’s really great!

The quest 3 is definitely a improvement over the 2, quest 2 games load quicker track better and graphics look pretty good. However the normal headstrap is not that comfortable infact it was giving me headaches no matter how I adjusted it but the aftermarket strap I got fixed that.

The Quest 3 is incredible. The pass through is awesome and the possibilities for Augmented Reality seem very promising. My one minor complaint is the included headstrap is not as comfortable as it could be. I'll end up buying something else to accommodate greater comfort. At this price point, I'd prefer to not have immediately add more accessories. But otherwise, the Quest 3 is outstanding. You won't be disappointed!

Ups and downs

The battery life when not even being used is very crappy, the device dies before I get around to using it. This issue extends to the rechargeable batteries sold for the controllers as well, when they aren't even in use. This is a huge issue and needs resolved as soon as possible.
Horrible battery issues aside, I really like the new quest 3 headset. Having the colored passthru makes for wonderful mixed reality. Compared to the quest view your area of view through the lens is a huge improvement, no longer having to keep your eyes in one ridiculously small spot.
The headset has gone in the right direction. I did however do worse on Beat Saber with this headset compared to quest 2 and I have no idea why. Anyone else seeing this?

The short of it is: looks great but battery for both headset and controllers is trash. Kind of wanting to return the charging station if this issue is not resolvable through software update, and just start using disposable batteries.

More comfortable, faster and supports better graphics, but not many games take advantage of it yet. Mixed reality is nice and helpful but not the main selling point. Desperately needs improved software options to manage, organize, filter and sort apps. Overall great headset and worth the upgrade.

Great for the average consumer but…

Hey guys so I am a content creator with a small channel. I like most other content creators was excited to get my hands on Q3. Overall I’m still happy with my purchase however here is my grip. Q2 allowed me to record content without my grid/barrier showing up in the recording. This made making content a much “safer” process. With Q3 I have to turn my barrier sensitivity way down in hopes it doesn’t show up at the wrong time and ruin what would have otherwise been great footage. My other grip is I use to be able to record 20+ min of footage and sync to my phone no issue. Ever since the latest Q2 update if I do much as go over 6min the footage will not sync. All my content is done between the phone and my headset. I actually preferred it this way as one of the biggest sells of the quest was the ability to place without a PC/Laptop. So now I have to actively track time in order to assure I can’t keep the content without loosing. I can share it to Facebook and screen record but the video quality takes a hit and the audio doesn’t sync proper. Those are my biggest two issues. My wishlist as im sure others have been vocal about is bringing back meta live. I honestly believe this will kick your sales into high gear as people want to show off gameplay. In fact it’s one of the reasons I got into content creating! Last but not least a serious thank you to all of you as I have fallen in love with the quest! The first time I played it took me back to the days I first picked up a game controller. It was and still is amazing. Really hope this reaches the right eyeballs.

Best Quest yet

The option for more storage is good. The strap was cheap and should have been replaced with something that didn't make it so uncomfortable. I added a 3rd party head strap with extra batteries for longer play. I also bought the pro controllers as the optical ones kept losing tracking.
