I love this headset. The improvements in performance from Quest 2 are fantastic and the color pass through with mixed reality capabilities is just incredible. The mixed reality games and potential will probably help a lot of folks who get overwhelmed by straight VR adapt to this type of technology in an easier way.
The increased resolution and FOV and the upgraded lens system makes everything clearer and even more realistic from a visual perspective.
The faster processor combined with an improved haptic experience leaves far less lag time and fewer disconnects between controllers and VR or MR targets.
My only complaints are that the mask does not fit as well and is less comfortable than the one on Quest 2. And, there is no noticeable improvement with regard to battery life but there are workarounds and third party accessories to improve these issues.
I look forward to more mixed reality applications as this already cool bit of technology further develops.

Battery Issues

The Quest 3 is a great improvement over its previous iterations. The new 120 hz display is crisp and smooth and it's more powerful processor and graphics chips really show. However with all this new power the battery life on the Quest 3 suffers. Often only lasting 90 minutes from a full charge it's battery leave much to be desired. Even when plugged in while playing, it often still drains. Recommend to wait a few months before buying of the battery life will be a big problem.

First set that everyone enjoys...

We've been fans since the Oculus DK2, with varying success... but the Quest3 is by far the first set that is enjoyed by the whole family, not just the techies amongst us. The new specs stand out and the AR/MR is clearly a winner and a whole new experience / gameplay. In short, it's the first set that I'll be recommending to friends who want to give it a shot.

Excellent successor to the Quest 2

There’s not much to complain about here — the Meta Quest 3 VR headset is a great device. If it’s too expensive, give it six months or so and you’ll probably see a price drop or at least sales. If you’re happy with your Quest 2, you can probably wait since there probably won’t be many exclusive titles at first. I’m very happy with mine, and if you’re ready to buy a headset, I’m happy to recommend it to you.

Huge improvement over the Quest 2

I upgraded from a Quest 2, which I loved but had some issues with, to this Quest 3 and so far it's fixed my biggest pain points with the old 2. The resolution on the 2, while quite good, were a little lacking. That seems to be fixed and I'm very happy with the resolution on the 3. The lens flares/god rays are now gone with the new lens on the 3. There's far less of a "sweet spot" on the 3. On the 2 I had to slowly and carefully tighten it onto my head, making sure to look at the screen while I did so, so that my eyes would be dead center; otherwise the whole screen would be blurry. The 3 I can just put on and go, maybe tweaking it a little bit once I'm in. And the whole field of view is much more crisp on the 3. It's clearly doing some kind of foveated rendering, or the lenses prioritize the center, but on the 2 anything outside of the direct front and center was a nearly useless blur. I like to play some 2D games on a virtual big screen using Virtual Desktop, and had to constantly turn my head if I wanted to see the sides of the "movie screen". Now, on the 3, I can just sit back and relax.
I also like that it's a little faster at loading games. Things like Pistol Whip just took way too long to load on the 2. It's at least twice as fast loading now.
None of the apps/games I've tried have upped their graphics much if at all for the 3, besides the obvious benefits of resolution and clarity the 3 brings by default, so I can't comment on improved rendering performance. I'm certainly looking forward to it though. The overall rendering quality of the 2/3 is "fine", but, and the best games make things looks "good", but ya know, it's a mobile device at the end of the day. Vr games streamed off the PC to the Quest still completely smash it by a mile, though there is the added complications of streaming the games so it's a tradeoff.
Speaking of which, streamed games have improved on the Quest 3 as well. I dunno if it's just the 3 by itself, or perhaps software updates since last I tried it, but the combination of improved streaming quality, resolution, 120Hz, and whatever else has made Half Life Alyx and an absolutely DREAM to play on the Quest now.
Audio quality feels the same to me? Which is to say I was very impressed by the speakers on the 2, and am similarly so on the 3.
I'm also pleasantly surprised by the benefits of color passthrough. I was skeptical of it and AR, how much could they really add to the experience versus fully virtual? Well, color passthrough is _great_. I dunno, it just makes the whole experience of using the Quest more comfortable and seamless. It's nice to put the headset on and be in a kind of middle state where I can still see the room I was in, but have the virtual interface pop up and get me ready to dive in. That might be a personal preference; I've never really gotten much of a spark from having a "virtual living room", though I know others do. Either way, the color passthrough has been a nice upgrade for me.
As for AR, I did have fun with the built in demo. It made me see that there is promise there. But I haven't tried any other games and I haven't seen big news about anything "really cool" in that realm yet. So *shrug*. I'll wait and see.
I like the multiple windows available now, I guess on the new OS upgrade. That's neat. A little unintuitive to enable? But I googled and figured it out.
Tracking has been good so far. Not sure if it's better on the 3 versus the 2 yet. The biggest issue I had with tracking was controller tracking, especially in games like Beat Saber where I felt like there was an overly limited range in front of me where the controllers were properly tracked. Given the nature of Beat Saber I'd frequently have the controllers too far up or down or something and they'd lose tracking :/. I'd need to experiment more to see if it's any better on the 3.
Finally, the headset itself. I have the elite strap, which I always preferred on the 2, even over 3rd party straps. So far, seems just as good as before. I give it an overall 4/5. It's good, but could be better. For my particular head it feels like it just doesn't clamp far enough down on the back of my head, so the headset can move around a little during more active times.
I know the old elite straps were fragile and frequently broke, at least based on reports from others. Mine did break after a few months and I had to get a replacement, which wasn't ideal. Hopefully the new one for the 3 is better in this regard?
I also wish the elite strap had swappable batteries; that's the one feature I saw on 3rd party straps that was absolutely killer. One big reason for that, for me, is that I like to charge my headset while its in the case. I can snake the USB-C cable in there to do it and keep the case lid closed. That's because the area where I use and charge my headset has lots of windows, so I keep it in the case to protect it from the sunlight. But it's kind of pain. If the battery was swappable I could always have a battery charging and just swap each day when I put the unit away.
And of course, my biggest complaint, which persists on the Quest 3 is *drum roll* the lack of more Vader Immortal. 3 episodes is just not enough. Get your act together :P ... please ... god ... PLEASE.
Anyway. Overall, HUGE, HUGE, HUGE improvement over the Quest 2 for me. Might be my best purchase of the year.

The Future is Here!

The Quest 3 is an untethered standalone VR headset. Unlike your typical game console, which must be connected to a TV, you just put on the Quest 3 and you're ready to go! You will truly feel immersed in any fantasy world. The headset gets a little getting used to on your head. In order to make sure the headset doesn't fall off, you need to tighten the straps a lot. However, this usually hurts the back of my head and causes more motion sickness. There are many straps online that are better than the stock strap. I would highly suggest getting yourself a Quest 3 if you have never tried VR or are on the fence of trying out a VR/AR/MR headset. It is highly affordable considering its quality. If you are coming from another headset such as the Quest 2, then it is up to you whether you want to make the upgrade. The quality, interface, tracking, and more has definitely improved from the Quest 2, however the only thing you are actually missing out on is AR capabilities. With the Quest 3, you can bring in a table-top game to your room in real life while also using your phone, talking to people around you, making yourself coffee, etc. With the Quest 2, and most VR headsets, you can hardly interact with the real world unless you take off the headset. TLDR: If you are hesitating to buy a Quest 3, stop hesitating and buy it already. You won't regret it! If you already have another headset, then I would test out the Quest 3 before buying it (unless you see yourself using AR a lot).
Think of it this way: these headsets are going to be a huge part of our future, so you either buy it now or buy it tomorrow, it's only a matter of time.

Can’t get the Basics right!

I have had the headset for a couple of weeks now. At first it is great. The graphics are amazing! The Passthrough is surprisingly good. HOWEVER…. To use a headset you need controllers that actually work. Mine stopped working the other day. So I paired my Quest Pro controllers. Which for the $$$ should be great. But they loos tracking and shut off randomly. So again.. unless. And I didn’t even mention the battery life. Which I could live with if the controllers worked. What a disappointment!..
Bottom line: it doesn’t matter how great the graphics are if you can play any game because of controller issues. Im back to playing my Quest 2.

Why buying this and paying this amount of money I need to replace head strap because it was so uncomfortable. Why wasn’t the battery issue known before releasing. I still love where this headset is going (AR).
