First time VR user here, so I did know what to expect, but grainy passthrough image is disappointing.
I thought I had a bad unit, so I sent it back for a replacement. The replacement had the same quality. The reviews from different places seem to suggest it's normal..
They advertise it so that it's great gadget to use while exercising, but it's not that lightweight for such purpose.
2 hour max battery is also not good.
I just use it for PCVR(?) to stream PC games on it.

This is the future of computation

This is the best purchase I have made in several years, I think is the future of computation, way lots better than a laptop or a tablet. I can even work in it without much trouble. I know some points can be better, and some apps that are not officially available for productivity such as VPN clients and SSH tools but anyway there are options to overcome this issues. Congrats to Meta, you are leading the future.

I'm in my 50s and a big Beat Saber fan. I love this VR headset - I am using it daily and have also started doing some exercise programs. The graphics are excellent and the augmented reality is really impressive. My sister got one too and is equally obsessed. I do a lot of business travel and have been taking it with me, though many hotel rooms are too small for it to work properly. It is fairly comfortable, but I'm considering upgrading the head strap. I also got silicone grips for the controllers, which makes them much more comfortable.

Very helpful for stroke recovery.

I bought this in hopes of using it to help with my stroke symptoms of partial blindness and hearing recovery. And it has been absolutely brilliant in helping me with overcoming loss of my peripheral vision on my right side and hearing on my right side. It's forcing my brain to recognize things on the right hand side without startling me because I didn't know they were there. It has also helped with my mobility and making sure that I have good motor skills which were minimally affected by the stroke. And since I have issues of getting up and around and own my own business I've also integrated it into my business and utilize the remote desktop and I do a ton of my work directly from my Oculus visor in my recliner. Amazing product. I bought the 128 gig setup and it was too small for all the apps that I wanted so I gave that one to my son for a graduation gift from college and bought the 512 gig set up for myself absolutely love it.

I was really excited at the prospects of this thing. The hardware is clearly well engineered. The battery life isn't great, but I understand the tradeoffs of keeping this thing lightweight and comfortable.
The biggest problem with the Quest is the software. If like me, when you think Metaverse, you think of exciting cyberpunk futures where you can be globally connected in an immersive experience from your home. This isn't that. The number of times I saw a software title I was excited by, only to realize it is basically a "single user" experience is too many times to count. To me, the excitement of VR is rooted in shared experience with others, not just another way to play video games by myself.
I would love to see Meta dream up some really innovative experiences and release some tech demos so other developers could expand upon them and realize a more exciting future that isn't just "a slightly more interesting gaming console," which is essentially what this is.
Right now, this thing mostly feels like strapping a laptop to your face (as far as software goes, it is way more comfortable than literally strapping a laptop to your face), except it has less software and worse battery life than your laptop. Very unfortunate considering how awesome the hardware is.

A clear improvement over the Quest 2

After trying the Quest 2 and getting headaches from the black and white passthrough, the Quest 3 has been fantastic to use. The color passthrough produces a much clearer picture, and hasnt given me nearly as many headaches. Definitely worth getting the Elite Strap as that makes it a breeze to put on, take off, and adjust to a comfortable fit.
