Great screen, delayed shipping

Did a ridiculous amount of research before finally placing my order for this expensive monitor to pair with my M4 Macbook Pro and I am VERY happy with it. I am using it at it's full max resolution and text looks crisp colours are bright and blacks are very dark.
One thunderbolt cable to plug into my MBP is really nice, no need for HDMI or any other crazy cables is wonderful. I will say that the Thunderbolt cable that they include with this display is rather short (about 3') so depending on where you are putting it you may need/want a longer one and they are not cheap.
This is my first curved display and I was a bit worried about glare and such but there is none, it's just not an issue and the curve is almost instantly not even noticed, I will say that this screen is a bit "fatter" than I was expecting not an issue for me at all but I have just grown so used to screens that are well under an inch thick and this one has a bit more than an inch behind it.
The stand has a nice surprise for me, it's fully metal and as a person that uses his iPad almost all day the magnets in my iPad case stick to the metal base of the montor stand and now my iPad fits perfectly under my screen
Speakers... Nope sorry they suck big time, the tiny speakers in my MacBook pro are 10 times better sounding than the speakers in this monitor, too bad because they are loud but sound like crap! There is also something going on with my Mac thinking that they are an amp or something and so they disable the volume controls on my keyboard meaning if I am on a teams call or something I can't turn down the audio, so I swapped my sound out off this LG almost as fast as I turned it on.
Shipping, the worst part of everything I was really disappointed in BestBuy here, they shipped via Purolator and my shipment was delayed 6 days, and when I contacted BestBuy about it they basically shrugged their shoulders. I would have much rather walked into a store to buy this but I could not as it was online only and as I was paying more than most computers for this screen I would have hopped for a bit more focus on delivery, but at the end of the day it's here now and I love it.
TLDR: Great screen with amazing clarity, half a star removed because the speakers suck and another half because of shipping delays

Better than OLED if reading docs or code

I've got both the OLED evo version and this IPS version. The OLED version is great for my gaming-first setup, but if I need to put in a full day of work I use this IPS version. The monitor coating, the RGB stripe layout of the pixels, and the diffuse aspect of the backlight, makes the IPS version much more forgiving when putting in 10-12hr work days, day after day. Maybe once the new OLED RGB stripe panels hit the market it might be a viable alternative, but for now, this is it.
The size is also perfect, I've tried a 42-inch OLED TV as a monitor, the new 52-in massive ultrawide, and the 49" super-ultrawide format, and this size is perfect. You can throw a 4k camera on top of the screen for video conference, and it doesn't look like you're looking up at a giant (or getting a good shot of the top of your head when you look at the screen), but tall enough to review an entire page of a document without it being too tiny.
Just a note, the monitor is quite thick (~1.5in avg), not sure why, but important if you use accessories that assume a thin monitor. My webcam (Insta360) makes this assumption, but thankfully it has an orientation that works on a flat surface, which I use on top; at some point will probably just use a little command tape to hold it in position if it falls off too much.

Excellent for productivity

Screen real estate so good I don't even open my laptop, just connect and tuck it behind the screen is enough. Text clarity is A++. No fan noise and easy to set up.

Solid Productivity Monitor

The LG 40U990A-W 40" 5K2K ultrawide monitor is a solid upgrade from my previous Benq EX3501R 35" ultrawide. I use it with a Mac Mini M4 Pro, and the 5120 x 2160 resolution is a big improvement over the 3440 x 1440 of the Benq. I can see much more on a timeline when video editing and the screen real estate is appreciated in Illustrator, too.
The 120Hz refresh rate is easy on the eyes when scrolling in apps or scrubbing through a timeline. And when I'm writing or reviewing documentation, the 140 PPI make the text crisp enough to stare at all day, especially as I like to keep it at the full 5120 x 2160 resolution. And because there's a lot of static parts on my screen (Word or Illustrator toolbars), I think the nano IPS black screen is better for me than OLED would be, as I don't have to worry about burn-in.
I was initially hesitant to get this monitor because people complained about the noise. I had been looking at the Dell U4025QW, but because it was hard to find and only had Thunderbolt 4, I didn't go with the Dell. I'm happy to say that my LG 40U990A-W doesn't suffer from the noise. This could be because the latest firmware update was already applied to the unit I got. And the single cable Thunderbolt 5 connection from my Mac to the monitor cleans up my desk space beautifully.
Haven't gamed on it since I usually use my TV for that. However, I don't play anything that requires a super-high refresh rate, so I'm not really concerned.
All in all, I'm happy. I don't have anything negative to say. Of course, the price was hefty, but I'm looking to get many years out of it. Plus, the built-in hub means I'm saving a big chunk of change by not having to buy a stand-alone dock or hub.
