Great DSLR!

I have used the 60D for a few weeks and I am very happy with the performance. Although it's not a magnesium body, the body is still pretty solid. The articulating screen is great. The locked mode dial is actually a good feature. The initial kit 18-135mm is a good start. I have been a Canon user for years and I will stick to Canon's!

Great camera!

I'm very happy with the purchase. It falls nicely in between the T2i and 7d - both in price and features. The camera feels solid construction-wise and I'm happy with the ergonomic design.
The deciding factors for me for going with the 60d over the T2i were:
- All 9 focus points are cross-point
- Faster maximum shutter speed
- More shots per second

I saw the articulating screen more as an extra bonus. It's come in handy when taking photos over objects (crowds, fence at a baseball game, etc) and in getting low perspective shots of animals/kids.
For memory cards I recommend the Transcend 32GB class 10 - it works perfectly for both photo and video with the 60d.

Excellent for Video

I am a film director and just bought this camera to shoot a commercial for a VERY large and well known car company. We made the decision to shoot on Canon DSLR's not only for budget reasons, but for the amazing quality of HD video they can deliver in an extremely small, portable package. I started testing 7D's and 5DMKII's earlier this year, and when this commercial came up, it took me a long, long time to finally decide on which camera to buy for myself to use on this and many other future projects. I'm used to shooting on 35mm film and high end digital cinema cameras, and overall image quality is very important to me. After an internal struggle pulling me towards the 5DMKII for the larger sensor and all the benefits that come with it, I ended up choosing the 60D mainly for the articulating LCD screen, and MAN did I make the right choice! We shot with 1 5DMKII, 3 7D's, 1 T2i and my new 60D, and even though the 5DMKII has the bigger sensor and the 7D's have dual processors, more than HALF the shots in the final commercial came from my new 60D! The LCD made it possible for me to operate shots that I would never have gotten as smoothly on the other cameras, and I'm not just talking about extreme low or high angles. What finally made me thrilled with my choice is that you can barely tell the difference between the 60D and the "better" cameras in the finished commercial, which still amazes me. I've taken some stills with it as well, and they look great to my very picky eye. If you are looking for a DSLR for high end video in a small package, I would STRONGLY recommend the 60D.
Pros: excellent video
Cons: wish slow motion could be in 1080p!

EOS 60D from want to be to pro !

regarding the fact it does not have eye control, focusing should be easier......the image on the rotating LCD screen is great ! The initial kit is a great deal , the lense is good enough to start to play with the camera. But I think it should come with a 15-200mm maybe.
I recomend this camera because builty quality and perfomance.....the only think I really miss from my old EOS 33 or 7ne is the best Eye control ever !

Pros: moving 3" screen, weight, fast, control buttons at hand, menu
Cons: focus in zoom, no eye control, multi layer focus

Better than I expected, and better than the "specs" show.
This camera is very nicely done. Great build quality, and that is the first thing that commanded my attention. Pictures are sharp and the camera seems responsive and relatively fast.

Cons: would have liked same fps as 50d

Great Purchase

I got my 60D about three weeks ago and have taken over 200 pictures. I have never been happy with my XSi. I am ecstatic about the results with the 60D. Most pictures have required no editing and others very little. I have two A-1's with plastic bodies. They have been banged around for years and there have been no problems. The plastic body is not a concern to me. I like the monitor and have used it a couple of times. It's a great protection for the screen when the camera is not being used. My opinion here is that the DIGIC 4 processor is so much better than that DIGIC in the XSi that this is what makes the difference. I am using the camera just as it came out of the box but have upped the contrast and saturation one level. I was about to go back to film and probably would have if I did not have a G10 with DIGIC 4. I was about to buy the XTI. I am glad I went with the 60D.
Pros: great images, ease of use, fits my have well narrow hand long fingers, feels good in my hands, i like the adjustable screen
Cons: none for me

Excellent versatile camera

So far I like this camera very much, Love the fact that it has the side hinged fully articulating LCD screen which is very useful for my needs. Image quality is superb, Video quality could have been better with continuous Auto-focus and a better memory saving compression software. The only let down on this camera is that it made of cheap feeling plastic and canon wants metal price for it.
Pros: full swivel lcd screen, great image quality, full-hd 1080p 30fps video, star rating
Cons: plastic body, expensive, video quality not the best, no continuous af in video
