My girlfriend surprised me with the EOS 60D EF-S 18-135 IS Kit as a gift on Christmas day. This camera is great! In my opinion, this camera is easy to get use to and will make you feel like a Pro. The high quality pictures are excellent, very professional and the HD videos are way beyond expectations. The LCD monitor is very nice, very clear, very crispy and the EF-S 18-135 lens is very very good. I was expecting this camera to be good, but the 60D surpassed expectations and i am amazed. The 60D is a bit heavy, but a man of my size can handle it =). Overall, this camera is great to have and it's on the professional level.
Pros: professional quality, great features, easy to use

Its has been a while since I have been very excited about a Camera. But here comes the 60D and it makes me very happy.
This camera is packed with so many features that most people are not really aware of, not understand or appreciate. It pretty much has all the things that you would ever need and then some.
The 60D basically gives you all the modern tools not only for Photography but also for Video and it gives them with plenty of user creative control. What you are missing with the 60D package are just extreme premium features that are not really needed for like 95% of situations. Also, compared with other brands I think Canon still give you the most for less money with pretty much all their camera models.
The 60D feature set and performance is so good and extensive that I rather tell you the few little niggles that bother me:
1. The issue that bothers me the most is the slow, cumbersome and painful way to access video. You have to go to the other extreme of the Mode Dial to start shooting video. I worry about the durability of that Mode Dial given all the rotation that has to go on between Av, M and Video. The solution or workaround to this would be simply to register Video into C mode, but currently the camera won't let you.
2. The Video Crop/Digital Zoom mode is fantastic, but is only 640x480. I needs to be 1080p,720p or at least WVGA to match the main 16:9 formats.
3. Manual Mode + AutoISO lacks exposure compensation.
4. The only button that can be programmed is the Set button. I would like to have at least another programmable button, the Erase button seems like good candidate that went to waste.
There are other smaller issues but those are not really important.

But don't take me wrong, as it is, this camera is like a 4.6 out of 5. If Canon can at least update the firmware to allow users to register Video in C mode and allow a 16:9 Video Zoom crop, even if it is only WVGA, that would make this the most perfect camera I've ever had.
So I say, The Canon 60D is a Highly Recommended !
If you are an advance user that would take advantage of the many things this camera has to offer, the 60D is the one.

Pros: variangle lcd, wireless flash, fast reliable pd auto focus, great video features, silent mode shooting, great budled software, clear pentaprism viewfinder, fast performer overall, battery life is very good., water/dust sealings
Cons: annoying way to acces video, no wb or raw status on top lcd, no wb button, 18mp is overkill rather have better low light per, video crop mode is only 4:3 vga, 720p has lots of moire artifacts, wired remote can not start video, buttons lack click feedback, doesn't have af calibration, live view auto focus is slow.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Canon EOS 60D

This camera is superb. The only problem is that focusing on the live view takes a little while and that the images sometimes take a long time to focus even in regular view. Also, the camera is bulky and heavy but perhaps this is why it takes such nice pictures. Pics come out dark sometimes but other then that, this is THE camera to purchase.
Pros: quiet, Quick Start-up time, excellent image quality, Superior build quality, Bright LCD, Solid Operation, easy to use
Cons: Missing features/settings, Short battery life, Heavy/Bulky, Complicated controls/menu

My First DSLR

I received my 60D as a (very generous) christmas present, and I am extremely impressed. I was looking for a good video dSLR to help document my senior thesis project for college, and the 60D came just in the nick of time. The vari-angle screen is incredible and very helpful for capturing steadier video, since you can hold the camera more comfortably to help reduce vibration. It also comes in handy while taking photos, although the auto focusing in live view struggles a bit to find focus before taking the picture. I work retail, and I was shooting at a store party, and I got some great overhead shots using the LCD, but I had to anticipate the moment a little more than I usually have to. I have to say that is about my only complaint with the camera though. The pictures I have taken with both the kit 18-135mm lens and the 50mm f1.8 have been superb, and it has barely left my side since I got it. The plastic body is a bit of an odd choice, but it feels very rugged, and I feel alright carrying it around. For someone who knows they have the photography itch, but doesn't have the dough to drop on the 7D, or anyone looking for a great video SLR, and you know you want a Canon, look no further. This is definitely the first (contemporary) step of many I hope to take with Canon in the world of photography.

Great introduction to SLR camera

Everything is great about this camera, except the autofocus in LiveView mode is somewhat slow (even when used with Quick setting)
Pros: good battery life, Nice features/settings, Quick Start-up time, excellent image quality, Bright LCD, Solid Operation, easy to use, variangle lcd with live view!
Cons: Heavy/Bulky, slow autofocus when used with liveview

Articulated LCD got me

I have wanted to move up to a DSLR for years but I have been spoiled by the articulating LCD display on my Canon A640 and prior other brand camera. When I finally found a Canon DSLR with the big bright LCD screen I was sold. The camera is heavier than I am used to but that is to be expected coming from a point and shooter A640. Several comments about the 60D not having a metal body make me smile. I learned that this camera body isn't just "plastic", but a special type of polycarbonate which has many characteristics of a cast magnesium frame but has one big difference. This frame will not block radio signals out to the flash or from your Wye-Fi card sending wireless data to your tablet/laptop. Very cool.
The image quality is superb. It is fast and quiet. The video quality is unbelievable. The menu system is quick to learn and you can download tutorial videos, store them on the SD card and view them in the field in the camera.
If you think you wont use the flip screen, you will be surprised to find how convenient it is to get the camera down low without getting your clothes dirty, or to get the video shot over the heads of the people in front of you in a crowd. The 18-135 kit lens doen't do macro very well so that is my next lens. I love this 60D.

60d and 24-105mm

I just purchased the 60d and the Canon L series 24mm-105mm lens. My first shots were indoors and all using the flash. The camera worked great but all of the pictures had a dark semi-circle in the middle of the bottom of the image. After doing some experiments the problem was clearly the lens blocking the built-in flash on the 60d. Removing the lens hood helped but the shadow was still there.
Comparing the 60d flash to my other Canon SLRs the 60d flash looks like it is mounted lower, leading to the problem. With problems this bad on a mid-range zoom I don't think that many people will be happy with this lens/body combination.
Pros: looks good on paper
Cons: flash with 24mm-105mm doesn't work
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
