Great 2nd SLR

This camera was my second Digital SLR after having a Rebel for a few years, I decided "to get serious". I was getting ready to start traveling and wanted more pixels and absolutely loved the fully articulating screen. I used the screen as a variable prop while taking long exposure pictures in cathedrals in Europe where I couldn't use a tripod and had good results. I appreciated the locking mode dial and my crisp results. I wish it had a magnesium body and more moisture sealing. Much better battery life than Rebel.
Pros: good battery life, quiet, Nice features/settings, Bright LCD, Solid Operation, Lightweight/Portable, fully articulating screen, fast frame rate
Cons: plastic body, kit lens 18-135 focused slowly and noisily
I would recommend this to a friend!

Pluses and minuses

I have had this camera for just less than a year. It is a great entry level DSLR, very easy to use, flash when you need it, and a pop out screen that is very versatile. However, I have been very unhappy with the poor autofocus the camera hunts for focus randomly causing me to have to manually focus it nearly all the time. I have tried many lenses and always the same behavior (EF-S 18-135mm f/3.5-5.6 IS, EF 50mm f/1.4, EF-S 10-22mm f/3.5-4.5, EF 24-70mm f/2.8L) The second issue is, even at very low ISO (100-320) the images have a lot of noise, something I would only expect to see at 800+. The camera has never been dropped or abused and all these issues have been present from the first shot, and I have heard similar reviews from other 60D owner.
Pros: good battery life, Nice features/settings, Superior build quality, Bright LCD, Simple controls/menu
Cons: Poor image quality, noisy
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

My first SLR

I have used Canon Powershot cameras for the last 4 or 5 years so I wanted to get into the SLR cameras. I bought a Canon 60D and I really like the features. Still learning all the ins and outs but I'm pretty confident that I can take some great pictures now. This is a great camera. It's a little heavy and somewhat noisy but this is a great product.

Missing Important Feature

I have been anxiously waiting for the next upgrade to the EOS 50D. When I saw the new 60D with 18 megapixels plus video, it sounded great. The camera body is lighter and feels cheaper than the 50D. But the most important feature that I use 99.9% of the time has been eliminated. That is the A-DEP mode. It has been on all previous models and has become a vital focusing aid for landscape scenes. I am very disappointed that Canon chose to drop it. Come on Canon, include it back on the 70D!

My favorite impulse buy

Best camera I have owned. I saw it on the shelf and needed to buy it. I had wanted to get a DSLR because of difference in quality over the point and shoots I have owned in the past. The specs on this camera is more than I was really ready for but I have learned how to use it and would only change one thing about it, a full sized sensor. But that will be for my upgrade if I ever need it.
Pros: good battery life, Nice features/settings, excellent image quality, Solid Operation, Simple controls/menu, easy to use
I would recommend this to a friend!

EOS 60D from want to be to pro !

regarding the fact it does not have eye control, focusing should be easier......the image on the rotating LCD screen is great ! The initial kit is a great deal , the lense is good enough to start to play with the camera. But I think it should come with a 15-200mm maybe. I recomend this camera because builty quality and perfomance.....the only think I really miss from my old EOS 33 or 7ne is the best Eye control ever !
Pros: moving 3" screen, weight, fast, control buttons at hand, menu
Cons: focus in zoom, no eye control, multi layer focus
I would recommend this to a friend!

Great Image, but sub-par quality

I have been very pleased with the overall image quality of the 60D, but recently, after 7 months of owning the camera, the grip on the body is starting to peel away at the tip of the shutter button and around where the thumb goes. It's annoying and feels like any longer it is like this, it is going to come off completely. This is very disappointing to me. Hopefully I can get this fixed. Other than that one little issue, the camera is great! Video is outstanding (what I mostly use it for) but pictures are just as great or better especially if you've got some nice glass. The menus are just as easy to navigate as any other Canon cameras, the buttons feel very nice and solid, and the screen is gorgeous and true to what it is actually being seen. Overall, a great camera, with a slight build issue. If they were to improve that, camera would get an A+, (currently at an A)
Pros: quiet, Nice features/settings, Quick Start-up time, excellent image quality, Bright LCD, Solid Operation, Lightweight/Portable, Simple controls/menu, easy to use
Cons: Poor build quality, Short battery life
I would recommend this to a friend!
