Excellent Camera

The vari-angle LCD is great and help a lot, Good Picture quality even in low lights. The LCD screen comes with an electronic level feature. This feature helps in leveling the camera. Another great feature of the canon 60d is the Dial lock which helps in preventing any unintentional change of the settings set by the user
Pros: good battery life, Nice features/settings, Quick Start-up time, excellent image quality, Superior build quality, Bright LCD, Solid Operation
Cons: Difficult to use, Complicated controls/menu

Fell short

I have been a loyal fan of Canon back to the days of film. I own the 5D mark IIs and owned most of the D's back to the 10D. I have been looking forward to the 60D. But a plastic body? My cameras do get bumped around and I do travel a lot. And if the purpose is to lighten the weight, I would get a Rebel. I do need to know that my camera is durable... and I don't want to see my lens mount or camera body cracked... particularly with the long lens that I use. Canon did not take the semi-pro to pro market seriously. That being said, the camera and the screen is a very good performer, clear images, great feel to the camera too. But again, how easily will the plastic hinge break on the LCD screen? And how much to repair it? If it took another $50 to the price to make it medal, it should have been done.

I have had the 60D for a few weeks now. I am very impressed with the results. I have been using it with the 18-130mm lens that came with the camera and also a 10-22mm ultra wide angle lens. The quality of the shots have really impressed me. This is ultimately my first digital SLR and i feel i picked the right one. The only downside i see is the fact the body is not some form of metal construction. However the camera still feels very solid. I looked at the Rebel t2i but this is way better. The movable LCD screen is very useful. If you use the live view it is a little slow and this is something Canon should try to improve in coming models. For me i feel i picked a fantastic camera.

This camera is superb. The only problem is that focusing on the live view takes a little while and that the images sometimes take a long time to focus even in regular view. Also, the camera is bulky and heavy but perhaps this is why it takes such nice pictures. Pics come out dark sometimes but other then that, this is THE camera to purchase.
Pros: quiet, Quick Start-up time, excellent image quality, Superior build quality, Bright LCD, Solid Operation, easy to use
Cons: Missing features/settings, Short battery life, Heavy/Bulky, Complicated controls/menu

Best thing that ever happened to me

I recieved the Canon 60d as a graduation present from college, I asked for it. I am an inspiring director, editor, and actor. I've only had it for a month but now with my skills I've aquired from my video production job, I now am using it to shoot and director and act in a Full Length Feature Film, also a short film, and also possibly some wedding videos, and music videos. With this camera and the right software and skills, you can do anything that big production companies can do!! except super super Inception style Slow Mo seemlessly, can come close with timewarp fx though. but the 60fps with 720p is so smooth its epic, and the total control of depth of field on the standard lens is incredible. I had built this camera up so much in my head i thought it wouldnt live up to its potential, but it surpassed it! The night shot quality and low light is incredibly good, the iso range is amazing, but dont expect to take it into a cave and be able to see what your eyes see, you still need a little light. The colors are amazing. the ease of use is great. its durable, and quick to use on the fly. With this camera, you can do what you have pictured in your head, all you need are the actors and sets, and you can get those free, people love to be in movies that will look good. Oh and the swivel screen is a most!!!! For all you cinematographers out there, get the 60D nothing else will work.

I went from a 30D than 40D and now a 60D and I Just loved them all but each one has something that the other one doesn't have and I do hope that this is the last one..
I was very impressed with the part that you can take a picture without moving the ISO and not use flash all the time and the picture is grrrrrrreat looking. As for all of the camera things go, itis superb Handles nicely, wonderful camera.
