Well this camera impress me for speed. I returned my t2i and got this instead and do i feel lucky for doing so. Big difference.
With this camera I can keep clicking away and it takes the pictures. My t2i i had to sometimes miss a shot because it could not keep up. Also the quick access to settings is a plus. With the second lcd display you know your settings and can change them quickly. Though to be honest I always use the auto settings. WHo wants to be bothered with settings when you having fun just taking pictures. The lens that came with it has amazing range and its good enough for every day shooting. I am only starting to explore all the features of this camera. It will accommodate me while I grow my skills. Some one mention the good battery life I guess some people are hard to please. This is not good battery life its excellent battery life. I had it for like 2 weeks now and yet to recharge it. The battery is still going after like 200 to 400 shots.

Hard to fault

It's hard to fault this camera, especially for the price. I wanted something like the 7D, but with a little less weight and a bit more compact for traveling, and with a bit more control and "quality" than the T2i (I have all three cameras). The 60D feels very nice, quite similar in feel to the 7D. I've been using the 60D mainly with the 15mm-85mm EF-S lens, but it works very nicely with the excellent 70-200mm F/2.8 IS II lens. Pictures are well saturated, crisp, not over-sharpened, and the 60D handles a wide range of exposures well, from 30-second night exposures to 1/4000 sec sports photos without any problems. Noise is well controlled up to ISO 800, begins to become noticeable at ISO 1600. I don't recommend ISO 3200+ for anything but low quality snap-shots. ISO 100 shots are absolutely stunning at all exposure durations. Battery life is extremely impressive. This is a serious alternative to the 7D, especially for the weight conscious photographer who doesn't want to give up the control features of the 7D. Video is up to par with the 7D. Highly recommended!

An upgrade from a Canon A540. Controls are similar. It is a very forgiving camers. I used a 35mm SLR a bit, a Canon FTb. I sold a few photos, so I could say I am a free-lancer. So with that stated, I can say the DSLR is much more flaxible and forgiving than the SLR. I was wondering if the camera would be enough to satisfy my interests, but it seems to be plenty. And there are always accesories.
I have done quite a bit of trials, close-up, telephoto and so on in the three months I have owned it. The camera can do anything I have tried to do. The resolution and the flexibility of the viewscreen are a very good feature with the camera's capabilities.
The software is excellant. I have interfaced the camera with my computer and taken shots directly from the computer. I am still working out the details of the wireless link, but I expect good things. The big detail to work out is that I have a netbook with a high definition 10.1" screen that I would very much like to use for an interface. The screen resolution does not satisfy the Canon software, which is surprising since it uses a much smaller screen on board.

Couldn't Be Happier

I just got the 60D in the last few weeks as an upgrade from my Powershot S5is (which I will keep and still use as it's an excellent camera and very portable). I wanted to upgrade to my first DSLR for better sports photos of my kids. They are in gymnastics so flash photography is not allowed during the meets. My S5is takes great pics, but just can't get the low noise, fast motion sports pics in lower light with no flash. My father and brother both have Rebel XTI's and get some great pics with those. The new vari angle LCD on the 60D was what finally pushed me over into the SLR world.
I had considered the Rebel T2i, but I really love the vari angle screen on my S5is and I didn't want to wait for the T3i, so I went with the 60D and couldn't be more pleased. I'm already getting great lower light shots with the 18-135mm kit lens, but I also bought a 50mm f1.8 prime to really capture lower light shots with no flash. I'm very impressed with the low light abilities of the camera / lenses. The burst speed and continuous shooting speed of this camera are great for me as well. Plenty fast for me and a good compromise between the T2i and 7D (which seemed like overkill for my first SLR and didn't have the vari angle).
I found this camera very easy to get used to. Yes, it's more complicated than my S5is, but I read the manual and I've found the controls / menus to be very intuitive. With a little help from the manual, I was already experimenting with shutter speed priority and aperture priority modes on my second day of shooting and getting some cool variations on my shots. I like the exposure bracketing feature also. This thing has just been a blast to shoot with!!! Seems like a camera a novice can use right away and get great shots with auto, but that you can quickly grow with as you get more experience.
Video shooting is great also! Auto focus in video seems to hunt a bit until it locks in, but I don't really care, as the vari angle screen makes it so easy to cradle the camera that I just switch to manual focus while shooting video anyway. It's quicker, less noisy and is really easy with just little bit of practice. I will be surprised if Canon doesn't add the vari angle screen to more of their DSLR's in the next generation. This thing gets great "artsy" video shots that I could never get with my camcorder, and I can just use my regular high def camcorder for family event shots where I want continuous autofocus and the depth of field a smaller sensor gives.
Congrats Canon, on a great DSLR for newbies and experienced users alike! I just love this camera / video camera (because it really is both), and your addition of a vari angle screen to one of your DSLR models was the final piece of the puzzle that got me to upgrade from my S5is to a DSLR. I'm having so much fun making new memories!

It produces a sharp colorful image without effort I dont know what or how cannon done it but I love the fact that all my L lens are perfect with this camera Could not say that with the 50d 5dII the 7D is better havent had to go to the MA but with the 60d my keeper rate has doubled YES Doubled Right out of the box and if it takes you 8 burst per second to get a photo your not set up right or something Get all mine in about 3 Shots!! Its just a great camera for the money and if you think you have to spend 5Gs to get good results u dont This is it !!

Good DSLR for Advanced Amateurs

i bought this camera three months ago together with the EF-S 18-200mm f/3.5-5.6 IS. I haven't had any DSLR before, just a Canon PowerShot S90 (good camera too!). I already used my S90 on M, so i directly set my 60D to M too.
i have used this camera mostly for nature/landscape photos but also did some indoor photography with it. i intend to use this camera on my travel.
the camera is easy to use and if you're already used to the handling of other canon cameras you'll get used to it very fast.

the camera produces very good image quality (at least if you're using a good lens). i have taken some awesome pictures with it. I try to always stay on ISO 100, but even if i go up with it, the image quality stays very good.
the vary-angle display is a very nice addition which has been missing from canon-cameras for too long! i hope that it'll find it's way to all other new (higher-level) canon DSLRs. though i'm only using this display to review my pictures i really like it that i don't have my nose on the display but can just throw a short gaze to the left to see the picture.
also the battery life is amazing, i can take up to 800-1000 pictures (without internal flash / with external flash) with it before i have to recharge it!
what surprised/disappointed me was, that i have several images where the focus was a bit off which makes a very good image look not so good. i'm not sure whether it's a problem from the lens or from the camera, it only happened at a weekend when i was out at the sea and it was pretty cold. i'll ask the shop about it.
i have now added a Speedlite 850EX II to my equipment as the built in flash always gave me a shadow from my lens on my pictures (the flash isn't high enough) and the flash isn't too strong. I'm very happy with that setup now, it gave me some nice outdoor shots (people in front of a dark sky at the sea).
i plan to get a better lens for low-light situations too, maybe a EF 24mm f/1.4L II USM or a EF 35mm f/1.4L USM (saddly there's no IS edition of either of them).

one last word about the new mode-dial: that push-button is nice, it keeps the dial on place (most of the times...). but why isn't it possible, that i can do a whole turn-around? the dial is full of those amateur-modes, so if i want to go from M to video i have to turn it by ~300°. canon, please do this better with the next generation of cameras!
i can definitely recommend this camera to anyone who wants to get his hands on a DSLR and wants to do some serious photography.
i'm looking forward to a 5D Mark III with the vary-angle display and the FullHD video-functionality from the 60D and a Dual (or maybe Quad?) Digic V!

I'm a novice, but decided to invest in a proper camera to try and grow my skills. I was looking for a camera that would be a good foundation on which to build. I played around with a few different cameras and settled on the 60D. It feels solid in your hands, the ergonomics are great, and it's packed with features that will be available when my skill set needs them. Right out of the box, it took one of the best pics I've ever taken, even on auto mode. Its like being shown a whole new world. I couldn't be any happier with my purchase, and am constantly amazed by the pics it takes. Buy with confidence, you won't be disappointed!

Moire is a serious issue. If you intend on shooting a lot of video, you will have shots that could be considered not usable because of the horrible moire issues. I own the camera and use it every day. I'm incredibly impressed with the photos. The video would also be incredible, if there were no moire issues.
Yes, Canon, you fixed the audio levels problem on the T2i, and promote that highly in your literature for the 60D. Too bad you don't let me see or adjust this vital setting while recording video, rendering the feature virtually useless. On-Screen levels, and adjusting during recording needs to be in future firmware.
The noise floor on the audio input also renders it useless for basic audio capture. If you use 2nd system Audio, then this is not an issue for you. So if you would like to get high quality audio recordings, it will not be through this input jack.
Again, if you only shoot photos, this may not be as big of an issue for you, however for those of you who want to be shooting at least 1/2 of the time video, I would look elsewhere.
