I have a Canon video camera HV30, great camera, but, I wanted to control Depth Of Field. The 60d allows me to do this and it also gives excellent video image quality.
Interchangeable lens make it a complete camera..
I look forward to the EOS 70D... hehehe
Thank you Canon.

Great Backup Camera

I purchased the 60D a year ago and it has been extremely handy as my backup and all around travel type camera. I noticed recently it had some dust spots on the sensor. I was surprised since I used L series lens on it and do not change any lens out in the field. A local shop cleaned the sensor for me fixing the problem. It is handy, great pictures and I have recommended it to more than one person I know.
Pros: good battery life, Nice features/settings, Quick Start-up time, excellent image quality, Simple controls/menu, uses same battery as my 5d m iii

Just bought a second!

I love the Canon 60D. I use it mostly for shooting video, and it is very nice to work with. Manual image controls are simple to use and the live view is super helpful for checking settings (and the rotating screen is an A+ idea). I like the options in video shooting, where you can shoot full HD, or even standard 480p if you don't want to show it in HD, that was a good move by Canon. Just bought my second 60D for video production and I'm excited to get using it in multiple camera situations. As noted in the Cons, it is a little heavy once you get lenses on, but not sure how that could be remedied exactly, maybe in the materials used, but wouldn't want to take away from the solid construction either. Would be nice if the standard battery lasted a bit longer, especially for shooting video. One more little point of feedback, it would be nice if you could natively shoot longer than 12minute video clips. Not that you often need to do that, but it would be nice to not be contained.
Pros: Nice features/settings, excellent image quality, Superior build quality, Bright LCD, Solid Operation, Simple controls/menu, easy to use
Cons: Short battery life, Heavy/Bulky

Excellent product!

I recently received a Canon 60D for Christmas, replacing my Rebel Xti. This camera is brilliant! My favorite features include the ability to shoot in low light situations with ease, and the ability to shoot both jpg's and RAW in one shot is amazing! That battery power is also amazing. I spent two weeks on a Caribbean cruise, and took well over 250 shots, and still had half the battery life left. And the shots were crystal clear, using my two Canon zoom lenses.
Thanks, Canon, for a fine product. I can't imagine why Canon has stopped production of this camera!

My First DSLR

I received my 60D as a (very generous) christmas present, and I am extremely impressed. I was looking for a good video dSLR to help document my senior thesis project for college, and the 60D came just in the nick of time. The vari-angle screen is incredible and very helpful for capturing steadier video, since you can hold the camera more comfortably to help reduce vibration. It also comes in handy while taking photos, although the auto focusing in live view struggles a bit to find focus before taking the picture. I work retail, and I was shooting at a store party, and I got some great overhead shots using the LCD, but I had to anticipate the moment a little more than I usually have to. I have to say that is about my only complaint with the camera though. The pictures I have taken with both the kit 18-135mm lens and the 50mm f1.8 have been superb, and it has barely left my side since I got it. The plastic body is a bit of an odd choice, but it feels very rugged, and I feel alright carrying it around. For someone who knows they have the photography itch, but doesn't have the dough to drop on the 7D, or anyone looking for a great video SLR, and you know you want a Canon, look no further. This is definitely the first (contemporary) step of many I hope to take with Canon in the world of photography.
Pros: Nice features/settings, Quick Start-up time, excellent image quality, Superior build quality, Solid Operation, Simple controls/menu, easy to use
Cons: Missing features/settings, slow af in live view, poor af in movie mode
