An amazing execution of technology!

Like others, it's my 1st DSLR, but my 4th digital camera, and I've been taking pictures for over 40 years. I've owned a few great film cameras, too. I've even done some pro commercial work, and I am blown away with the Canon 60d. There's a learning curve to using all it's features, but it is also so easy to use. Both my wife and daughter picked it up and immediately started taking great pics. The body and kit lens are well balanced, a little on the heavy side for smaller folks but feels just perfect in my hands. I could only be happier if the price was a little lower, but compared to the T3i and the 7d this is the better bargain in my opinion. It's a great piece, and the only real upgrade you will need are lots of subjects, and time to travel to places to shoot. Did I mention this Canon is my all time favorite electronic toy, and it's one serious toy for sure! Yeah, it is a love affair.
Pros: Quick Start-up time, excellent image quality, Superior build quality, Bright LCD, Solid Operation, easy to use, works well with even an 8gb class 10 sdhc, feels very solid and fits average adult hand size
Cons: paid too much but that's my fault.

Amazing Camera

The Canon 60d is by far the best cropped sensor camera i used to date. The 7d was more heavier and bulkier and the 60d felt just right. The Picture quality is amazing and depending on the lens that you have the camera will just get getting better and better. The wireless speedlite flash function is a great plus as well. And of course the swivel screen has allowed me to get a lot of great shots that without it it would be hard to do. I recommend this camera to anyone because its easy to use and will allow you to grow with it once you get to know more about photography.

love the camera

I purchased this camera with only a few expectations. I usually use my film camera for my artistic photos and primarily for school. I am not only a photography enthusiast but a bike enthusiast. I needed a camera that would help me through video edits and my riding shots. I wanted to replace my 50d and my vixia hf s200. though i still love both of these products, the 60d is superior to both, or at least both at the same time. the movable lcd monitor is extremely convenient for filming, and though i don't see too much difference in 50d shooting and the 60d, it is a better fit in my camera bag. i love the camera and iso is also really nice for all weather shooting. it is pretty affordable and simply lovely. thanks canon.

Cons: bit slow 5.3 fps shooting i've used better

Great Camera

This was an upgrade from the Rebel XT. I love this camera almost as much as my wife. I have read many reviews and usually focus on the negatives, but after listening to there complaints, it was the right price for what I needed. Supposebly this camera sits between the 50d and the 7d, right where Canon wanted it to be. If you want to spend the extra money for the 7d that only had one comparison difference, shooting speed, to me that was an extra 700 dollars, not worth it. The flip display is awesome, especially when trying to get a better angled shot. I can go on and on about how great this camera is, I bought it and I love it!

This is my first DRSL! As I finally had the money to get one, I decided on this among other reasons because most of the people I know that have dslr's have a Canon and they are all very happy with their camera products. I also could not be happier. I got it in Nov. 2010 and at that time most of the reviews complaint about the "plastic" built... don't even pay attention to those reviews. It is a solid camera and I ever since I got it I can not stop playing with it because you can do so much with it. So if you are like me, that are scared to get something because you've never had a dslr before, know that I was in your shoes back in November and if I had to do it again I would get this camera again. The screen is fantastic and it has proven to be helpful for me already as I've gotten shots on angles that I could not have gotten without the "swiveling screen". The kit lens is not a fancy lens but the pictures do come out great and I find it to be a very user friendly walk around lens. I've added other lenses already and can't wait to keep taking pictures. Good luck shopping and whatever you get I hope you like it as much as I like my camera.

what can I say about the 60d, this camera has all that you could ask for, and then some ! It's not a pro camera(close to it thought) but for someone looking to spend a little more time taking awesome pictures it's perfect.
Canon hit it out of the ball park with the moveable screen, the only gripe I have is that I wish the selector button on the top left went all the way around instead of stopping at some point. **well worth the money** this is my second canon camera and I am a fan of their stuff all the way!**

Best camera to upgrade from the Rebel series.

After using a Rebel XSi, I needed an upgrade that had more features and amazing quality. It was a toss up between the 7D and the 60D and I decided to go for the 60D. I really put the camera through a rigorous test during my trip to DC and I was amazed at how clear the photos turned out especially photos that showed depth of field. The video feature was great as well however I really didn't use that as much as I wanted. Great camera overall!

I purchased this camera back in Dec '10. I wasn't really looking for something that has this many user features - I was looking @ the T2i since I am a beginner photographer.
Body/Handling: When I went to my local photography shop and was handling both camera's (60D & T2i) I absolutely loved the feel and handling of the 60D. I have relatively small hands and they seemed too big for the T2i. The 60D has a sturdy build to it and allows you to be a little rough with the camera without it feeling like the body will crack or break. I am not saying that I treat my camera badly, but every once in a while it WILL bang up against something and I don't worry that the body will damage. With as much hikin and camping as our family does, I really like that the camera is dust & water resistant. Again, this doesn't mean that I take the camera in extremely wet or dusty conditions for a long period of time - I simply use it for the weekend trips to Moab where we'll be hiking in the Arches or Zions and a little dust might get kicked up from time to time, or an afternoon sprinkle might appear and it's nice to know that my camera is protected to an extent.
Options: WOW! I am so glad that I have more control over my camera than with the T2i. Althought the 60D sits in between the 7D and the T2i, it allows my nearly 100% more control over my manual settings. I love the rotating dial to flip through my pics or menu (Q button). One of the greatest features is the swiveling LCD screen. I recently shot a 6min video with the camera and had I not had the swivel screen, I wouldn't have acheived many of the angles or frames that I got. Not to mention that it protects the screen when the camera is stored away.
Internals: Although the line up from T2i thru 7D all share the same image senor (and size @ 18pixels), I thoroughly enjoy the burst rate of 5+fps. The pentaprism mirror in the viewfinder allows for better manual focus points.
Photography features: The burst of up to 1/8000 for a max shutter speed is awesome - I've used it a few times from some hockey games. It's not a feature that is used too often though, but it's nice to have when you need it.
A couple other wonderful features are the ability's to use wireless flash and shutter. I've taken some family photos with a 4 & 6yr olds and had I needed to set the timer for 10sec we would have NEVER gotten the absolute best family portrait that was taken.

I guess that is all I can review on the camera/body and in concluding this review I would buy this camera again if I had to. The 4 stars on the price/value was because I bought it fairly new on the market and thought it was highly priced (at the time).
