almost impossible to take a bad photo! very easy to use under all conditions.

This is my First DSLR and i am very impressed, the swivel screen works great. This 60D is very well built and is almost identical to the 7D. ideal for those upgrading our starting out. Superb 1080p video.
Pros: good battery life, Solid Operation, easy to use

Poor build quality

I purchased this camera as a step up from the T1i and I was disappointed at the build quality especially the grip. The rubber on the grip peels off. I thought it was my copy but I've looked at different copies at different stores and they all have the same issue. Since I'm a heavy user, I returned it and purchased the 7D. Although, the 7D is heavier and doesn't have the swivel screen, I am happy with performance and build quality. I've noticed that Canon's build quality on their new series of cameras (60D, T3i, and T3) are below standard. I'm surprised more people haven't complained about this; perhaps, these units are too new.
Pros: good battery life, Quick Start-up time, excellent image quality, Lightweight/Portable, easy to use
Cons: Poor build quality
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Good Camera, Good Price

This is my 3rd Canon D-SLR. This is just a great camera for someone who is above an amerture, but not a pro or someone that doesn't have "pro money". The battery life is great as I tool almost 1000 pixs before I needed to re-charge the battery. Takes great pixs, and with included software able to do wonderful things with pixs taken in the RAW mode

Awesome DSLR camera

Great DSLR camera. This is my first DSLR camera I have owned but not the first I have used. At first, there was a lot to learn and a lot of controls but after a few hours, everything came easy and changing settings came real easy to me.
Battery life was amazing for me. I was able to get close to 500-600 shots out of the battery but this was also with me playing with settings and messing around with the camera all the time. I think I can get close to 800 pictures on a single charge.
5.3FPS is fast but I wish it was as fast as the 7D (8FPS). No lag at all when shooting at full 5.3 FPS. I did however has some lag when using a slower memory card. I ended up getting a SanDisk Extreme and no lag for me.
Swivel screen is useful when trying to get low angles but do not want to lay down on the ground. I have gotten a good amount of use out of the swivel screen and not just for video but pictures as well.
AutoFocus is slow when using LiveMode but fast when using the viewfinder. Have 9-cross point for AF is great and changing where you want the camera to focus is very easy. Just hit a button and scroll then start snapping pictures.
Manual audio control for video is a great addition. I just wish you can change the audio level when recording but you can't. No big deal since the video stuff I'm going to do are going to be short clips.
Build quality feels solid and not cheap.
Top LCD screen is great to look at your settings on the go when your doing manual shooting.
Pictures and Video are sharp.
Overall, I'm happy with my purchase and this camera is the best bang for your buck. It might cost more then the t3i but well worth it.

I have had the EOS 60D for about 3 months and consider myself a pro-armature, power-user. All I can say is that this camera is addictive and very very impressive from a quality and performance perspective. The flip screen on the back was why I bought the 60D versus the 7D and commend cannon for the design - I love that functionality.
I have to also add that Canon has done a great job of developing digital instructional material to accelerate learning of the many features of this camera and associated software.

Great Performance and Features

I got this camera half a week ago and so far, it is a beautiful one!
The 60D has good basic features such as the 18MP sensor and 5.3fps burst rate. The body tends to be a little handful for small hands (or those used to the smaller Rebel series) but I got used to it within 2 days or so. The menu and GUI is nicely organised and aesthetically pleasing.
Speaking of the menu - the camera comes with lots of nice other features, such as silent shooting and built-in wireless transmitter (yes!). The thick manual booklet was of great help for me to get started on the camera, for the buttons were positioned very differently compared to the 400D (Rebel XTi) that the 60D replaced.
The LCD screen, besides it being tiltable, is bright, vivid, and crisp. As advertised, +1 million dot resolution, and it is not easy to tell the difference between two pixels.
Overall, the 60D is a great mid-range DSLR, and I am very pleased with it so far. However, I will have to see how the polycarbonate resin body will do in case of future exposure to harsh shooting conditions.

This camera is just outstandting. It is like a solid gold bridge the crosses professional cameras and amateur cameras
