I absolutly love my 60D!!!! If you are looking for great color, clear shots and ease of use, the 60D is for you. I have fallen in love with the fact that I can switch from auto focus to manual focus with the simple flip of a switch. The battery life is beyond belief! Talk about High Definition...this camera has it all. I could not be more pleased. I highly recommend it to family, friends and strangers who ask me about it. Now if I could just save up enough money to get the MP-E 65mm f/2.8 1-5x Macro Photo lense for my bug shots.......Simply AWESOME camera.
Pros: good battery life, Quick Start-up time, excellent image quality, Bright LCD, Solid Operation, Simple controls/menu, easy to use
Cons: Heavy/Bulky

Great Camera, but could have been so much better

The only thing I have against this camera is the body construction. I wish it had a magnesium alloy body. The swivel screen is a really great feature as it allows you to take shots from awkward angles which otherwise would have been just difficult to do. The autofocus in live view is slow and makes the whole point of using live view rather pointless. Also, the direction pad should be replace with a joystick. Or make the existing pad more comfortable to use. These are the gripes I have about this camera, and other that these issues its a BEAUTIFUL piece of hardware.
The moment you hold it, you will like the feel of the body as it conforms to the shape of your hand grip. It has a rather nice rubber grip. The size of the body is good too. It weighs just fine, at least for me. The control layout is nicely balanced as your fingers will be quick to finds its way to the most used buttons. The auto focus is really great with its 9 cross type AF points.

Cons: build quality is ok, af in live view is ok, price

More than I Expected

This is my first DSLR, but not my first camera, nor my first Canon product. I am an accomplished amateur photographer. This camera replaces a Canon G9. This camera is more than I had hoped for. It's the best digital camera I have owned to date. The image clarity and quality is superb, sharp, and colorful. The camera does an excellent job of gauging exposure capturing shots that previous camera mus-judged and over/underexposed. Focus is lightning quick (using 18-135 IS kit lens). The viewfinder is nice and bright due to the pentaprism design and contains all the information you need about the shot. The tilt/swivel display is a great addition and very practical! Through the detailed menu system you have a number of choices of camera operation. You have a number of RAW and JPG mode choices, and 1080p video in a number of different modes. You will not be unhappy with your choice if you get the 60D.

Can do it all at a fair price.The 60D

My 60D is more camera than I counted on. It does amazing things . It is a lot of fun and easy to use.It was an excellent choice as a retirement gift.

I have used many DSLRs and the 60D does a great job the focus speed is very fast. The white balance is also as good as more expensive cameras. The feel and weight also makes you feel as if you are carrying a 2000 dollar camera.

Best camera I have owned. I saw it on the shelf and needed to buy it. I had wanted to get a DSLR because of difference in quality over the point and shoots I have owned in the past. The specs on this camera is more than I was really ready for but I have learned how to use it and would only change one thing about it, a full sized sensor. But that will be for my upgrade if I ever need it.

CANON 60D BODY

The location of the depth of field preview button is extremely awkward. It's hard to reach when using larger lenses, especially lenses employing tripod collars plus ... it is on the wrong side for right handed shooters. (Just try pressing DOF while adjusting f-stops!) Would love to see a custom function to allow the *, +, - or other button near the main dial to actuate depth of field (like old EOS Elean IIe). Yeah, most of those non-landscape, non-nature shooters with IS lenses say they never use depth of field anyway, but for the serious nature shooter, this function is quite important. Important enough for me to spend the time to write this. Wish I had known more about this before purchasing.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

I rented the 7D & the 60D to test before buying one & the 60D sold me. At a weeding shoot both cameras did very good but I fell in love with the 60, i sold my Rebel T2i & bought the 60d. The 60d body construction is a lot sturdier and a solid build like the 7/5D not the plastic style of the Rebels & the battery life is a lot better to. Photo quality is determined by the user & the lens, but with all of my lenses my photo quality is better than with my T2i... Nice
