Great camera

I purchased this camera with the 18-135mm lens. I am new to photography, so this may or may not concern some people. But I love this camera. It takes beautiful pictures. I have only taken about 1000 pictures so far but even a newby like me can create some good picture quality. The auto setting is pretty good. Although I try to shoot manual to improve on my skill level. The controls are very easy to learn. This is a user friendly camera. I am very satisfied with my purchase.
Pros: excellent image quality, Superior build quality, Bright LCD, Simple controls/menu, easy to use
Cons: maybe a little heavy.

Pro Performance in an Amateur Body

When replacing my well used third body (10D) I considered both the 7D and the 60D. I have used this camera extensively since I purchased it a bit over a year ago and I do not regret the purchase at all. Would buy another in a heartbeat.
I was a little concerned about the size of the 60D's body (I'm a big guy with BIG hands), I shoot "L" series lenses, and the fact that it did not have a magnesium underframe worried me. In playing with both the 7D and the 60D I did notice that the 60D seemed a bit small in my hands compared to the 7D. So I tried it with the battery grip and the fit was perfect for my larger hands. I also found that the "L" series lenses balanced better with the BG on the 60D. For the $300 difference between the 7D and the 60D with the BG I went with the 60D and battery grip combination.
I wasn't sure how much I would use the articulating screen, but thought it could be nice to have....Boy was I wrong!! I use the articulating screen frequently. No more holding the camera up during a reception and blindly shooting hoping I get what I want. The articulating screen is great. While I wish it was a bit faster in playing back what the lens is seeing, I get exactly what I want In 90% of the instances by using "Live View" and the articulating screen. I also love being able to swivel the screen so that I can't chimp. I find myself shooting more and looking less at many events.
In a year of beating this camera at weddings, concerts, sporting events and travel, I can tell you that it has held up exceptionally well. I have dropped it, hit it against walls and trees, and really given it a year of hard use...it still looks new (if you ignore the 3 or four places where there is paint transfer from a wall) and everything is still firm, solid, and failure free.
Advanced amateurs, this will be a great body for you. You will get exceptional images and is a fantastic upgrade from your Rebel. Do yourself a favor and buy the battery grip for extended shooting and much more comfortable verticle shots.
Pros, this makes a great "disposable" or back-up body. I travel with it unconcerned if I loose it, drop it off the top of the building, or otherwise destroy it. It produces images that have been turned into 24x36 wall hangers as well as larger prints for ads.
Granted it is not a 5D Mark III, but for what you paid for it, you won't cry for days if you break it.

60d, pro camera packed in half the cost.

I have been using 5d mk 2s and 7ds for over a year now, and i bought a 60d to add to my personal armory of cameras. I was amazed at the price, and I would say, it is better that the 7d. the images are sharper, and look alot better. post production is a breeze. if i am out on a shoot, and have a moment of downtime, i can edit the raw images quickly and have a majority of a shoot done before i get home. The 7d does have 60fps video shooting, which is great, and a faster buffer rate. The 60d is an amazing camera, a great buy, and you get proofessional quality with half the cost. The flip screen has come in handy on alot of shoots, allowing me to get angles that other photogs couldnt get. I am surprised that the 5d mk2 and mk3's do not have the tilt-screen. overal, amazing camera. if you are looking to upgrade an older camera, this is the one for you. having used both the 7d and 60d, 60d is a better buy, much sharper, and cleans up nicer.

Excellent Nature Camera

I originally bought a T2i with the standard kit lenses for bird photography. I gave it a good run of about 10k shots and found the continuous shutter counts too slow, the battery a bit weak, and the lack of a rotating lcd screen a bit of a handicap. Jumped up to the 60D with a 18-200 and a 100-400L and the problem was solved. Simply put outstanding. Still a bit expensive and I don't like the program mode dial on the left side but all in all a very good camera. Once I became a better photograher the camera was even better. No surprise there. The HD video is excellent but lack of autofocus is a bit of an annoyance but easy to deal with. Works well with back button focus for birding and the 2 lenses seem to do about 95% of what I want to do. Very satisfied.

Cons: Heavy/Bulky

Excellent camera

I used this camera extensively on a recent trip to Europe and the photos I got were outstanding. It was easy to use, although a bit heavy to lug around. The lens I have for the camera allowed me to get crisp, clear shots of the mountains. I have a lot to learn about this camera. It has a lot of features that I haven't mastered yet, but the quality of the photos definitely is exciting. Looking forward to learning much more about this wonderful camera.

Great replacement for my analog rebel

It performs great, excellent prints I shot beautiful wedding photos, with ease, and a bee on a flower at Niagara Falls that was as if I were right next to it, It took a while to get use to and a lot of reading, but the results were worth it, I was able to use my Rebel lens and things, so it makes a good conversion camera when I switched to digital. my old canon served me well, for near 20 years as an investigator, wedding photographer, and family photo, before it finally dying.

Best HDSLR for low budget hi-Definitiobn work

I bought my 60D a little over a year ago and I can't say enough good about this camera. It is the answer to a film makers dream as well as the other HDSLR cameras that Canon makes. It fits everything we need. I bought it mostly for HD video production and boy was I surprised. The still photography is flawless as well. You can't go wrong with the 60D made by Canon.

Pluses and minuses

I have had this camera for just less than a year. It is a great entry level DSLR, very easy to use, flash when you need it, and a pop out screen that is very versatile. However, I have been very unhappy with the poor autofocus the camera hunts for focus randomly causing me to have to manually focus it nearly all the time. I have tried many lenses and always the same behavior (EF-S 18-135mm f/3.5-5.6 IS, EF 50mm f/1.4, EF-S 10-22mm f/3.5-4.5, EF 24-70mm f/2.8L) The second issue is, even at very low ISO (100-320) the images have a lot of noise, something I would only expect to see at 800+. The camera has never been dropped or abused and all these issues have been present from the first shot, and I have heard similar reviews from other 60D owner.

Cons: Poor image quality, noisy
