Actually better than I thought

Never really used a vr headset before. When I first put it on I was shocked at how real everything seemed. Honestly felt like a holodeck from Star Trek. Vr Gaming, movies, social media, Xbox cloud gaming all perform excellent and look fantastic. I'm not sure I'll be able to use my 65 inch real life tv again without being disappointed. 😂

Best low cost solution for people with low vision!

Buckle up!
This is gonna take some explaining.
I have bi-lateral Optic Nerve Hypoplasia and Nystagmus.
I've been in the workforce for 23 years.
I've always suffered at my work because of my vision.
A lot of that came down to comfort.
I bought a Quest 2 when it came out for gaming at first and it did the thing after a bit where it sat on my shelf collecting dust because life got busy.
I heard about an app called Immersed and working in VR.
I've only ever had call center work because blind people don't get a lot of trust in the workforce here in Canada.
I started using Immersed back in February of 2024 and I've been using it since.
Now I use Meta HDMI link as well.
I have 1381 hours clocked in Immersed since February.
The Quest 3s is great because I can move my lenses from Reloptix over and it works with a lot of my Quest 2 accessories.
I put it to work as soon as I got it.
Now, I have color passthrough and can see things on my desk better, as well as the monitor's from Immersed and HDMI link.
I bought a bobovr s3 pro and it's really effective.
I used the Quest 3s all 3 days during our union Convention as a sort of laptop.
I had a Bluetooth keyboard and mouse connected. I used the meta browser to connect to my home computer using chrome remote deskop.
On the longest day, I was able to go from 9am to 12pm on 1 battery.
Swapped the battery at 1pm and charged the other using the 100 watt port on my 27000 mh IMUTO power bank. The second battery was charged before the 1st one ran out.
For leisure, I used the 3s to watch Aliens Romulus without scaring my cat and I even burned through Kaiju No.8 while doing chores all day to see how long the headset would last.
Anyway.
Haven't used it for gaming much yet, but that's because I'm still a little busy. The short of it is, This headset is a full monitor replacement and has made my life as someone with low vision much better.
If you know anyone with low vision, please consider recommending this to help them.

Used for awhile and have had issues in some games with having to restart or reload to beginning of next segment.
Also is their supposed to be a microphone working?? Tried several times to turn on but nobody can hear me. Tried to look up function and searched the internet for info. Even Meta site doesn't seem to state any mic.
Might be taking back for refund!!

Quest 3S is great product but the lenses are not good for eyes. I will wait for couple of years to make few more games and Apps So I can watch a movie in 3D.

Bought this for my son for his birthday and he loves it. And of course I game it a little bit because why not. The graphics and physics in some of these vr games are amazing. Highly recommend this product to any one new to vr.

Excellent value and tons of fun

I previously had an Oculus Rift S, which I loved, but it was never the most comfortable to wear and was a little low-resolution. The Quest 3S screens & lenses aren't as good as the full-fledged Quest 3, but they are quite an improvement for anyone upgrading from a Rift or Quest 1 (or just starting out in VR). For the money, you can't really go wrong with this headset. The AR ("augmented reality", where you can see your room with things added in the environment by the headset) is great and very easy to switch between VR and AR with a simple button push (which is great if you get a call or knock at the door while you are gaming). The cameras are good enough to read your phone if you get it just the right distance. You can even type on a computer keyboard. Heck, with hand-tracking you can type on a virtual keyboard - but it's still not quite sensitive enough for a proper typist.
I wear glasses for distance, but opted not to use the (included) facial interface extension for using glasses. Why? Well, the focal distance of the Quest 3S lenses is approximately 4 feet. Most people will either have Myopia (meaning they can see up close but can't see distances, like me) or Hyperopia (meaning they have trouble seeing up close, like reading a book or seeing their phone). The thing is, 4 feet kinda lands right in the middle and is usually not addressed by lens prescriptions for either ocular afflictions. In my case, my glasses wouldn't help as they are only good for seeing objects about 10+ feet away. You would actually need some custom lenses designed for focusing at 4 feet. You might get lucky with some weak reading glasses, even if you don't have Hyperopia but still find the focus to be a bit off.
Anyway, back to the Quest 3S itself. The lenses are similar to the Rift S (Fresnel, instead of the pancake lenses of the more expensive Quest 3). They aren't bad, and have a decent field of view. They are better than the Rift S with a larger "sweet spot" and wider field of view. They are quite bright too. Battery life is about 2 hours, so you'll likely want to buy a battery strap (I did) - another reason to buy one is the included head strap is quite uncomfortable. Luckily, it is easy to replace and there are plenty of third-party head straps available. The sound is very impressive. The Rift S sound was positively terrible in comparison. I never really noticed this until I got the Quest 3S... it has the bass!
The included game is Batman: Arkham Shadow. Honestly, it's not my favourite game. It's great if you want a workout, and like flailing around like a crazy person trying to complete dance-like fight moves. I couldn't really get into it. I'm a sniper, not a brawler. But hey - it's free, and it's a really good looking game with quite a story (especially if you are a fan of the Arkham series).
PCVR works great with either Quest Link or Steam Link. I have played many PCVR games with minimal glitches. For anyone having connection issues, make sure you have a good quality 5GHz WiFi 6 (AX) router with good signal strength where you are gaming. I have an ASUS gaming router, so I don't have issues. A friend bought himself an air bridge to specifically link his headset directly to his gaming PC because his home WiFi router wasn't cutting it. That also works well. Don't use your ISP's WiFi router.
The processor in the Quest 3S is the same as the Quest 3. This is quite impressive for the price, and means you can play any current game available for the Quest 3 at full quality (and there are some very impressive games available). The controller and hand tracking works extremely well. And the battery life of the controllers is very impressive, so you won't be going through a ton of AA batteries. I've recharged my headset at least a dozen times already, but I have yet to replace the controller AA batteries.
I would recommend this headset for anyone who doesn't already own a Quest 2 or Quest 3, or someone thinking of dipping their feet in the VR gaming pool. Once you play VR games, you can't really go back to flatscreen games. Well, you can... because you can stream them to a virtual bigscreen in your Quest 3S virtual home!
