I live in Fort Bragg, CA home to two very excellent coffee roasters. This French Roast rivals their output on a very, very good day. Folks who give it a negative review simply don't like deep, full bodied blends of coffee.
Like I said earlier, "what happened??" I just received the 80 ct. French Roast K-cups...I don't care what the label says, THIS IS NOT TULLY'S FRENCH ROAST!! I've bought Tully's French Roast in the past and thought it was some of the BEST coffee around, but this last shipment is bad enough to make me change my mind. This stuff I just received is some of the weakest coffee I've ever tasted. I consider myself an avid coffee drinker, and I know what French roast should be and this is NOT it. I'll have to see if I can get a refund...
Cons: Not Enough Flavor, Roasted Too Light, Thin Or Watery Mouthfeel/Body
I got this from my MIL who didn't like it either. I usually like strong, good tasting coffee. This tasted bitter and burned, all at the same time. I ended up passing the box on to someone else. If you like scorched earth coffee than this is for you. I think someone else said it perfectly, this tastes like the last of the coffee that has been sitting on the burner all day. Being from Washington, I have never really been a Tullys coffee fan.
Pros: Pleasing Aroma
Cons: Unpleasant Flavor, Unbalanced Or Sharp Acidity, Unpleasant Aftertaste
Out of the many, many samplers we have tried, this is by far my favorite. Tully's House Blend (extra bold) is a closer runner-up. If you like strong tasting, dark coffee, you'll love this!
I tried so many different types of k-cups. I love a strong cup of coffee so most of the k-cups I tried were too weak. This one is perfect. I also use Newman's Organic because it's usually cheaper at [...] but, I always have to resist the urge to set aside the Newmans and have the Tully's. If you don't like a nice strong coffee this is probably not for you, but it's a nice strong coffee, not watered down at all.
French roast is my brew. I like Folgers and mix it with there decf. in regular pot, before Keurig. This coffee doesn't come close. It doesn't taste good and is bitter.
Cons: Unbalanced Or Sharp Acidity, Unpleasant Flavor
